Prohibitionist Class
: Designed for play with any class but they will play very differently.
Optional tag: (Prob)

Quick Reference [Everything you need to know is right here]: No equipment that raises 4 main stats, no elixers, no stat raising shrines, no random shrines, no Enchanted or Hidden shrines, spellooks must be found in dungeon by the character, no mana shield or apoc
MAX life <=2*base life.

Official rules: This prohibitionist is not concerned with alcohol, but rather with performance enhancing drugs. Anything which enables a person to do something outside of their natural means is considered highly suspicious. Obviously, drinking elixers is strictly forbidden. Equipment which raises one of the 4 main attributes is also forbidden, as even this temporary form of performance enhancement may have long term consequences. Healing and mana potions are more like natural forms of nutrition which are considered harmless.

Shrines - Since the mechanism behind shrines is not clearly understood, the prohibitionist strictly avoids those shrines which will permanently affect his inherent abilities. Abandoned, creepy, eerie, mysterious, quiet, and fountain of tears shrines cannot be trusted. Spellcraft is a natural form of study in which all people have natural limitations, so enchanted shrines are not used either. Hidden shrines change the inherent nature of items and thus also cannot be trusted. Goat shrines and cauldrons may not be used, as the prohibitionist will not risk his body to a trivial gamble.

Books - Since the study of spells has a permanent impact on the mind, the prohibitionist will only trust those books which he finds himself. Bartering with Adria or trusted friends is not safe with such power at stake.

ManaShield - The so-called "spell" mana shield is clearly some temporary form of altered existance in which mental energy is released to the muscles. Since this state never occurs naturally, the prohbitionist avoids using this spell in any form.

Apocalypse - As the prohibitionist has both great respect for and fear of God, he will not attempt to harness the powers of the apocalypse.

Lastly, while the prohibitionist does not mind those items which offer protection in the form of life (providing they don't alter the all-important vitality stat), he will not allow his life to exceed double its natural state.

Extended rules and subvariants (all normal rules still apply):

A. The Hardcore Clan (ProbHC): Death is permanent. Stonecurse is forbidden.

B. Holy Order of the Red Cross (HoRC): Only 3 points may be distributed at each level up. Sorcerers only distribute 2 points per level up.

C. The Unforgiven (Prob),(Prob-LoL): This clan is made of the hardy prohibitionists who don't like reliance upon gold. Ultrapures, LoLs, Vow of Poverty, etc. fall in this category.

D. The Rebellious Youth (ProbChild): Only distributes one point to his/her major attribute each level. Other stats may be distributed in any manner desired.

E. (ProbC)... Yes Charis, it's OK for your magic using Prob Warrior with an attitude to use a 20 duration TC :)

While all the rules above are written in the masculine, rogues do not get any special exceptions!

Special thanks to Bostic, Charis, Claudio, KingOfPain, and Woody and others for contributing to this variant directly or indirectly.
