Chaos Rift + Stream of Life interaction

In the DOS version, Chaos Rift dealt damage, and Stream of Life healed it afterwards.
In the Windows version right now, healing comes first, and damage afterwards.

Which is the preferred order?

The former leaves units at maximal health each turn, but poses a threat to units that were already damaged when they ended the turn in the city.
The latter leaves units damaged between turns but guarantees the safety of already damaged units better.

The current behavior corresponds to the spell description: "... units in the city heal completely at the end of every game turn." One might assume that "Chaos Rift" would do its damage during the turn of the wizard who cast it in preparation for his possible attack.

So, which order is better depends on the situation; the old one is more useful to the defender and the current one to the attacker.

Healing first, damage afterward seems more beneficial / fun for the human player, who's likely to be using Chaos RIft somewhat strategically and expects to actually see some result even if it's very small.

I think the old order is the more logically expected one. Although from a turn perspective these spells only activate once per spell, from a lore perspective they should be constantly active. So it would make more sense for SoL to always heal existing garrisons that stayed there the whole turn to full regardless of whatever else is there (order coming last), but it is possible for damage effects to kill already wounded units that entered the city "halfway" through a turn before they have a chance to heal properly.
