EDIT: I was wrong. If you assign more farmers and thus produce more food, and get more surplus, your money income goes up.
This thread can be locked and removed.

It's still converted to gold. Maybe the display is different (doesn't show food->gold). Modding.ini has a setting for the conversion ratio.
