Interesting game, Compromise, with a lot of similarities to the one I played: medieval attack on Egypt, later attack on China. The one thing that seemed to be missing in this game compared to some others was a massive round of tech trading to catch up to tech parity. Maybe that's because you aren't used to the tech-whoring hoops some of us used to jump through in Civ3 (?) [Image: smile.gif] (I talk a lot about this in my report, which I can't post until I get back to my apartment later today.)

Domination was certainly possible on this map - I just didn't want to play all the way out to such a late date! Good job seeing it through to the end, and getting some experience with modern age warfare (I got a lifetime's worth of that in RB1 with Sirian).

Oh - and you better believe *I* had galleys ready and waiting to finish off that last Egyptian island city! [Image: lol.gif]

Nice. In my game, Saladin controlled that 2 city island that Qin had in your game. Something that irked me in the end-game as I was trying to destroy him...

Looking forward to your report Sullla. Civ1 was the only Civ game I played before Civ4--and there were a *lot* of tricks I didn't discover in that one--so the tech trading game is still one I'm not skilled at. (I'm sure that was painfully obvious in RB19!) And looking back on it, I still can't believe I didn't have galleys in place for that island city. That's not going to happen again!

@regoarrarr: I bet it was annoying to have a civ you were intent on destroying occupy that isolated island. We'll get to play that role in SGOTM2, I bet!

I haven't finished reading all the reports, but I'm amazed at how many different victory conditions people managed to get. I think the only ones I haven't seen yet are Conquest and Time. And Sullla, you didn't want to play it out late...did you get a conquest? I'll wait to see 8) .

I'm in the same boat (or similar, I did play Alpha Centauri for about three months). It's pretty funny to see someone like T-Hawk come along and make strong moves that (at least to me) weren't obvious when I first started playing. In fact all the former Civ III players have both advantages but I think disadvantages as well. They will tend to try things that worked well in Civ III whereas we might try something different. Maybe 9/10 times it is sub-optimal, but that 1/10 is sweet nod

Hi,

good game! Nice to see another player going for domination. smile I waited 100 years longer to declare war than you did, and declared on Saladin instead of Hatty. I faced much more resistance than you did, I wonder if that was due to AI personality, or the extra turns my AIs had to build units...

I've noticed before as well that sometimes, you can capture several cities from Hatty, and she will still be pleased with you after the war. Funny. lol
