I was curious to see how much of a difference Blake's AI--the latest version, last week I think--would make in the AI's city location choices.
So, I started the game from the beginning with Blake's DLL. (I also wanted to see how the aggressive-from-the-start play went, so I largely followed Kylearan's gameplan.)
Although I probably didn't give the Japanese AI enough time since I eliminated Toku in the 400BCs, and I didn't give Peter a chance to fill his continent completely either (wiped out near 0AD as I recall), you can certainly see a difference. I stopped play near 600AD when it became clear that the interesting part of the game was over, so the India, Persian and Chinese screenshots are taken from within the Worldbuilder.
The early aggression gameplan is incredibly powerful. The only thing slowing down the assault was the need for markets and courthouses to pay for all those nicely placed Japanese and Russian cities which fell so nicely to swords and chariots.
I like the new AI city locations much better.
