"the godless killing machines hell-bent on the destruction of our units!"

watch out for the women like me! takes me a while, but when i focus on it, BAM *giggle*.
we think alike and we think different. because the last thing this board needs is another post from me, and because i think it will make you laugh, i pulled out some things from your report that are exactly the same or the exact opposite of how i thought while i played my game.

On the other hand, my failure to scout very well (Iâm paranoid) means that I donât know where everyone is"
-did you see how much of my map was black even with Holy Vision Power activated? and you are not paranoid compared to me buster
.
If I had known that Montezuma was further north than Isabella,
-oh how i giggled when i realized that Isabella (who i did know was closer to me) completely blocked Monty's troops from reaching me while we were at war!
(long division: the Spotted Owlâs archnemesis)
-i'm not so sure, i imagine they don't like GK much either.
If oneâs longevity is inversely proportionate to their productivity, then I shall look forward to a life-span measured in the millennia. My civ, however, will have a much shorter life-span if I continue on as I am with regards to unit buildingâ¦Iâm not even on the most powerful list!
-i believe life-span might be in part based on diplomatic approach
. i wasn't on that list either, funny how things turn out!
My scout encounters Japanâs, and they engage in war the only way they know how; an intense, no holds barred scout-off.
-935 fred is DEAD. and i'd just thought 'oh i should get over there to scout his territory since now i don't need OB
I eventually came to realize that Tokugawa was engaged in war against me â a psychological war!
-monty tried using
reverse-psychology worker-stealing tricks on me during our second war!
I even refuse to adopt mercantilism in 1813 when [Tokugawa] tells me to do so.
- 1571 is random personalities on? toku will trade chemistry. toku is selfish as hell, he'll only trade stuff everybody else knows! OH, he's friendly now yay,
thanks for changing to merc when i did buddy! i gave toku econ and nationalism. neither was a monopoly, and i hardly think that giving him economics is going to lose the +civics bonus i'm getting with him now! loses parthenon but gets me grens and closer to bio, so, yay.
- 1646 /gasp. toku adopts FR, rep ... and free market?? random personalities isn't on? i'm at +9/-0, he dropped to pleased, so it's okay, but i sure didn't see the free market coming! [he changed away from merc, his favorite civic, at least 167 years before he did in your game obviously, and he never did go back]
I donât even know if you CAN capture great people like that, but Iâm going to try if heâs still there next turn.
-i took this during the game:
potentially useful tip: if isabella pops a GP during a war and has not yet built a shrine a religion that she founded, give her time to build it before you capture the holy city and the city where the GP is. she will make the shrine if she can get the GP to that city, works out as well as capturing him would. in warlords, the AI seems guaranteed to make a military academy with a GG that is born in a city the turn before you take it if there's not one there already. MAs stay when you capture a city so that's worth the wait too. all this based on no civs "helping" you during the war that might take the cities/kill the great guys first.
"I knew in my heart but not my head that it would be wise to get at least one neighboring civ to the pleased/friendly realm, but I didnât execute until far too late. Once I did get Peter to that stage, things became infinitely easier â I could focus defenses in places that needed it, sic him on Monty when I needed the help, etc. If I had been smarter about that, I could have been able to go on the offensive much earlier, wouldnât have needed to use my core cities to pump military units for the middle part of the game, and could have managed a MUCH earlier finish. If thereâs anything else really stupid I did, do call me out on it!"
picking friends to make pleased/friendly was about my serious #1 huge priority for this game, as you knew. you could have gone on the offensive much earlier, you could have avoided the offensive til way too late like certain
queens *giggle*. blah blah. none of this or other posts is meant in any way to point out stupid moves, it was purely for amusement. i think you did very well, and in many areas better than me. i learned from reading your report (and giggled too)!
