Quite a game! I wouldn't say it had me at the edge of my seat for most of it but I was impressed by how you really took initiative and control of the game. You grabbed it by the horns and made it your pet :D
Nice game, Kylearan. I was expecting the AIs to put up a better fight in the space race, but oh well. Maybe in the expansion.
The scenario wasn't designed to be as difficult as the Civ3 version. I wanted a tough game, but one which was "winnable" rather than pushing the level of impossible. I've only read your game and T-Hawk's so far, but I'm very happy with how the gameplay turned out. More explanation to come in the Comments tomorrow. I'm glad you had a good time, and extracted a measure of revenge.
Your game was eerily similar to mine, our war declaration dates and finish dates were pretty much the same. Your report was also like mine, lots of attention to the early game details, not a whole lot later .
You didn't mention it, but did you try to make some trades with Huyana Capac before making peace with India? I think moving the capital to Delhi was a good idea, but you have to admit Karakorum was able to generate hammers and commerce at a pretty good clip. Also, by the time I had intercontinental resource trades going and my happy cap was high enough to work all the Delhi cottages, I was already in Free Speech (were you by any chance using military police to work extra cottages?). Hi,
darrelljs Wrote:Your report was also like mine, lots of attention to the early game details, not a whole lot later .Yeah, sorry for that - if during a space race nothing really exciting happens, I find it hard to write a more detailed report... Quote:You didn't mention it, but did you try to make some trades with Huyana Capac before making peace with India? No, I don't think I did. The only tech I could have traded away was Alphabet, and at that time I still followed my old habit of keeping the monopoly on that for as long as possible. I only changed my mind later and sold it to him then. Quote:I think moving the capital to Delhi was a good idea, but you have to admit Karakorum was able to generate hammers and commerce at a pretty good clip.Yes, but moving the palace reduced distance maintenance quite a bit, and I still could used Karakorum as a nice production city after the move. But in hindsight, I should have moved the palace to a more productive site, as I think uberfish did - without whipping, Delhi needed literally ages to finish its university and later Oxford. But I still think moving it away from Karakorum, regardless where to exactly, was the right move in this game.
