I found this forum the most suitable for a question about the oldschool RPG's. I'm in possesion of "For Blood and Honor" and "Day of the Destroyer". I heard a lot of good about M&M, and I'm a fan of HOMM, but I also heard that the series have downfalled after some point. Do you think these two are good representatives of their title? Or maybe I should put some effort on getting other, better games from the series?

I enjoyed HOMM3 for awhile, but that was a very hard game to balance. Once you get a handle on some of the tactics, a lot of the scenarios got either ridiculously easy or hard. That being said, some of the fan-made maps told really good stories, and made for great adventures. Overall, I probably enjoyed it more as a game to experience, rather than good repeatable gameplay. Way more than my $0.02 tongue

Not sure if you're asking for the HOMM or the core M&M series - I don't know HOMM, but played most of the M&M games. For me, "Day of the Destroyer" (it was the game with Acromage, correct?) was less enjoyable than its predecessors. I loved M&M V and VI the most and found M&M VII ("For Blood and Honor") okay, but then I'm *really* oldschool when it comes to RPGs - I still prefer top-down/isometric view over 3D, and love turn-based combat instead of real-time, so... wink

That's okay! I have eaten my teeth on Fallout and Baldur's Gate, I love them with the full power of my heart. I have nothing wrong with isometric view and turn-based combat. (On the other hand, I never had the sanity to play any of the really, really oldschool games with rather challenging interface, like Jagged Alliance.)
