RB PBEM #1 - Gandhi [spoilers]

The only way the game could go out with a proper "bang" would have been if you and Dreylin ended up at war :neenernee

In all honesty but several dozen(?) turns of Spy-revolt and similar spy-actions is even more whimpy than a Diplo-vote.

Besides your comment to mh was at least very ungratefull because without his great defense-work Dreylin would probably already be winner.

You played a very strong game (and made good use of your Spies thumbsup ) but in the end you did stick too long to Dreylin at least for a Big Bang ending

Dreylin shared the version he had of that comment from mh ... it sounded like it was out of context to me. I was talking about Cultural Victory.

Guess I will re-read that email - I thought I had included that mh had done a bang up job holding Dreylin off (and giving me a chance to win).

Hey Ruff, just got through reading your thread and reviewing all the tactics you used to beat me ... in the post count. Of course since I'm now retroactively spamming my own thread to try and compete I probably shouldn't be posting over here as well, but whatever. wink

The one thing I was disappointed not to find over here was your assessment of the Theology/CS trade which also got the AP completed as Confucian rather than Christian. Looking back, I think that long-term I came out of that deal pretty well, so I had been hoping to get your viewpoint of the deal from that time ... who you thought was getting the better half of that deal?

If you've got far enough through my thread then you'll know that mh sent me the whole of your message, so I saw the context (and maybe grasped it far more than mh did). However the key was that it finally made me think about how you were planning to prevent my Culture quest and realise that what was in store for me was really unexciting. That jarred me enough to finally start listening to what mh was saying and not continue with "mh must die, stabbity death" for the rest of the game.

In the end though, I think I probably would have beaten you simply because having all three of the Culture Corporations meant that I could turn any old city into a 50t contender pretty quickly, and then culture doublers from 6 religions could get that down to 30-ish in fairly short order.

Though I don't like to think what effect your revolting Ankara might have had on my economy....yikes

I cannot really remember this ins and outs of this decision now. I would assume that I was thinking about which religion I spread (obviously the AP one) and how much shrine income I might get if that is Christianity. In the end, I think I decided that being AP Pope was going to be more fun than extra gold income. As it turned out, being Pope was a total waste of time as any resolution could be effectively ignored.
