Oh, yes, we had bad luck with ending up next to Aggressive Rome.
The forming of the NUTA helped us out there. However, Ruff tried to play a double game I think and still geared up to attack us or at least made moves that left us feeling very uneasy. Naturally we assumed the role of the top researcher on our team.
In hindsight we should have demanded more troops/protection from Ruff & Imhotep and even Krill after his peace deal with the Lins.
I think there are a lot of lessons learnt and applied to the 2nd Pitboss game (No tech trading for a start). That's why I would have preferred this game to end when people began to drop out and long pauses occurred.
However, in the end, I think CIV needs a kind of ingame ruleset similar to EUIII that deals out heavy punishments for backstabbing, breaking peace deal and so on. It's still possible to do it, but it must come with horrendous disadvantages (the better your relationship was) to not make it the only feasible way to win.
For me personally, I think MP is not the right thing at the moment. It's totally different to my SP game style and not CIV anymore, in my eyes. And I don't like how the ever so important diplomacy affects my view of people (this goes both ways of course).
