Thanks for playing!

As for the cheese factor, there is a game setup option to disable the diplomatic victory condition, and it wasn't used.

And both MP games on Realms Beyond that have ended have been ended by a diplomatic victory.
I have to run.

It's actually mine as well, albeit from a single-player perspective. But with another player leaving the game, my decision became simple: better to have a clean winner than limp on with a new replacement each month.

Well there's an interesting tidbit! It makes me feel better about this then, because I had had my reservations.

I suppose there is an outside chance that nuking or a change of heart from sunrise could derail Rego's victory, but I think the game is probably done now. I have tweaked my cities so that almost all of them are either growing, finishing a bomb shelter, or making a defender - so my population should be safe enough. My only city with a Hindu Monastery is building a missionary to convert one of my two remaining cities at the start of next turn. And I have made a first draft at my rejection of the peace offer (which I still entertained right to the end, before eventually realising that it aimply would not be much fun):

Quote:[COLOR="MediumTurquoise"]The Shady Expanse acknowledges the generosity of the peace treaty offered by Lords Munro, Broker and Twinkletoes. Yet we will never forget that you began this war with a nuclear strike against a civilian target, and that your tactics have shown neither honour nor restraint - as witnessed by the thousands of our citizens who have died in their homes while your weapons of terror explode around them.

So despite the destruction and radiation spewing from your empires, despite the massing dogs of war which I am promised could destroy us: we will fight on.

We believe that your warmongering leaders have chosen unwisely. We will see this to fight to its end, whatever that may be.

EDIT: As it seems there's one more turn to go before the end, Rego has asked me to stall - so I won't be rejecting the offer right away. I doubt it's sincere anyway, they're probably just trying to delay me getting Fission and nukes. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.

Also already late (as you have voted) since your opponents acted very cheesy with 'you won't get nuked in my land' I find nothing wrong on this way out. Had they wanted an honest fight they had the chance to ban the nukes and have a real fight.

So I logged back in to start screenshotting for a post-mortem report (I don't really feel I've accomplished much of note this game, but it's still been a learning experience). One of the shots was this one:

and of course, I added the votes up myself just to double-check we can do this.

Then I realised something is rather fishy about that picture... well, I'd decided that failing this I wanted to fight to the bitter end. It looks like I'm going to get my wish.

Well, as you probably know, Mali has a new turnplayer. Mali is the nation of Daniel (shadyforce's closest ally) and Twinkletoes (who you've heard about a lot recently). The new man in is called SilentConfusion, though TT is sticking around as an advisor.

I've had a Google Chat with him and first impressions are good, i.e. I like him. His current thinking is that he'll continue as-is for now, but long term he'd rather not let Broker just run away with the game. So I suppose there's the potential that we could be working together at some point in the future, but only if I can survive the surely-inevitable war against Munro first.
