I am starting an advanced start pbem tournament. I started my first advanced start game last night as a test and would value people's input.

I have 700 coin (quick speed, small map) to spend ... what should I spend it on?

Cities / Units / Culture / Tech / Improvements / Other

(I don't know the costs of each item but tech seemed pretty expensive - will look over the week end and post them)
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Settlers and workers are good value - tech is bad value is how I would see it. I am interested in playing a PBEM have you already got sign-ups and how quickly do you imagine it taking?

There is a pbem ladder that I am on. They are just starting a tournament. The tournament is a series of small 1v1 games (their ladder is all 1v1 too). See their rules if you are interested.

Thanks - that is a pretty website!

I'll give it a miss for now though - I'm looking for a casual PBEM not too disimilar to the current RB one to be honest.

You can't be talking about the pitched death match currently taking place between Holy Rome / Greece and India / Ottomans can you?

Yeah - Not casual as in the game, but the pace and the good nature in which it has been played. lol

Thanks for the input. I just finished my first pbem game under this set up (it is 1v1 with a few AIs thrown in). The result - attack and defense is critical. Get set up so that you can launch your first war at the end of the enforced peace. Pillage or kill the opponent as soon as possible.

With this in mind, spend on the following:

cities to get strategic resources
improvements to those resources
workers to chop
border pops
population to whip
even consider buying HBR if you have horses
scouts to find opponent ASAP
