Imp 26, Timmy's typical failure

I seem to have a knack on Hard-with-variants Imperia of having seemingly good openings kill me at the first vote, and did it again here with all 5 AI's lining up against me while being a bit short of 1/3rd. Sigh. I've done my share of complaining already about the MOO metagame; maybe if I played this as a kid and hadn't learned Civ4 before MOO I'd be able to swallow pride and shamelessly exploit/bribe AI's to not vote against me.

I'm sorry to hear about the early vote loss, Timmy. It's true there's little one can do short of exploits to prevent it from happening if the dice roll that way. I will say that at least one of the next few Imperia will be designed in such a way that the vote will not be an issue!

Can you tell me who opposed you in the vote? Were you at war with anybody? It sounds like you were close to a veto, but not quite there. If nothing else, knowing some of the issues should help in designing future Imperia.

That blows. So unlucky to have all the AI's vote against you. While I never bribe AI's, I do everything I can to never even get close to having a ship at any of their worlds, and of course bug them for minimal trade every turn until they say yes, then just leave things alone for a long time.

unlucky timmy. i know it sucks but that's one of the beauties of this game for me - even if you play a great opening you can still lose smile
