Imperium 27 report

Contrary to my expectations I didn't find this game very difficult, although the late-game mop-up phase did stretch out a bit because even with LR tanks, there were a few planets that were out of range until we discovered unlimited range.

My strategy was to make friends with everyone to boost my rsch through trade while denying the AI any worlds within range through a superior fleet. Not sure whether this was the best approach or not but I never had an AI fleet even try to orbit Meklon. I built a grand total of zero missile bases.

Despite the 1PE we were competitive on production and rsch throughout most of the game, only the bulrathi threatened to pull away but they too were eventually subdued.

It was hundreds to be honest, and then I played 1 game forever and then got my planet size reduced to 10 pop after 500 years or so, so went through a few hundred more before getting this one. smile

2332: RW80
2333: meklon maxed

2351: IIT8 + RC3 come in same turn
2364: meet mrrshans when they settle paranar, start trade @ 100
2376: GNN says we're second in pop; in 2382 we're first (!) in production
2395: we rsch R7, meet alkari; 100BC trade
2408: rc4

2409: council vote, bears get tao + we make contact; 175BC trade

2413: the first of many tech steals; we steal hyper Vs from mrrshans (i want fusion bomb, we finally get it in 2432)

2433: darloks settle neptunus, giving us a full set of contacts. minimal trade

2437: first steal from alkaris, R5, we'd also get IIT9, c2 shields, improved eco from them

2449: first steal from darloks, BC2, duralloy, ARS2456, ECM2, ISS, graviton beam, neutron blaster, PDS, c4 shields would follow

2452: fusion drives

2455: first steal from bears, gatling, AMR, RW60, zortium, stingers is the full list

2464: reajax

2484: trilithium, devastators started (huge AR design, 30 fusion bombs, 45 fusion beams + 3 combat speed)

2496: mrrshans genocided

2554: anti-matter drives

2565: the galaxy is barren: only nazin ursa and meklon remain

Sounds like a really neat game. Those early GNN reports are incredible. Highest pop in 2376 with what? 110? 120? What were the AIs doing? (Well, I'll answer my own question: They were sending transports around, presumably. Still, that's a pretty amazing report from GNN!)

Also a very impressive victory date; congratulations! I hope to see you around for future Imperia! (Don't let RBP3 eat all your time, okay?)
