Map Makers wanted

Hello, there is a pitboss game being organized at Reddit, will start in 2 days and 11 hours.

8 players, FFH2 game, I think they are currently planning to use Erebus Continent with smart climate override.

Players are Bannor, Kuriotates, Lanun, Illians, Grigori, Calabim, Sheaim, and Khazad.

The desire is for starts to be somewhat flavored, yet balanced above all else. (as well as expansion areas too, I'd think)

Keep in mind that the Lanun can basically inject themselves with Commerce without need of the Map's help (although there expansion areas will need a pearls or two to take advantage of that mechanic)

Also keep in mind that Kuriotate cities can work three tiles, (and have double speed on settlers) so they would be able to culture choke people if given the opportunity.

In the mid-game, Calabim can turn their population into hammers, but they still need metals like everyone else (likely in contested areas/expansion areas)

Calabim and the other non-Kuriotate/Lanun civs (especially bannor) need a certain amount of commerce and food for their starts to be competitive with Kurios/Lanun.

That being said, Bannor and Sheaim (well and maybe Grigori) probably need the most advantage due the strengths of the other civs.

In any case, it is ultimately the mapmaker's decision.

I only ask that no one is to be forest choked XD ... and that if one land based power gets Plains hill + Floodplains start, all should (except maybe Kurios, but still).

Anyways, if you are interested in making/helping to make/peer review a Map ... please sign on this thread smile

I'll bow out of this for following reasons :

1) It is not possible in any way to balance Erebus Continents to the extent you're expecting short of redrawing most of what it generates. At which point,

2) it will not be Erebus Continents anymore leaving people less than happy. Also

3) hand drawing, or performing extensive edits, on a map takes much more time than two days allowed by the deadline. Especially

4) for someone in full time employment who can't really spare more than 3h a day for continuous effort at anything civ related wink

For reference - hand drawn map for pbem X here took me about two weeks to create, partly because it was huge, but mainly because drawing something that both looks and plays OK takes time.

I see your points, and I do agree smile

I suppose I was mostly looking for someone willing to Peer Review a map.

We have found a mapmaker, but currently I don't know when the map would be ready in order for it to be peer reviewed.

So probably, the pitboss will have a surprise XD (I don't even know what will happen! :P)

but yea, I agree that it would be too much to ask someone to hand-draw a map from scratch in the timetable before this pitboss game.

as a side note, I hope you make our map for the new and upcoming FFH2 PBEM! smile
