Pling's Incomplete Civ V Adventure 1

Er, yeah, so ... Diablo 3 ate my homework? *shuffles feet awkwardly* lol

Or more honestly, I failed to start playing in time and so ended up with loads still to play when Diablo 3 came out and I parked this game. Which is a shame, as I was enjoying it and if I'd got myself properly organised I'd've finished it out. I hope there are more Civ V adventures, thanks to SevenSpirits for sponsoring this one smile

Fortunately I was writing the report as I went along, you can find it here.

I got to turn 70, and hadn't got to any scoring opportunities. I may come back to it someday & finish the game, but it'll very much be a shadow coz I'm going to read the other reports now smile

Looks like Napoleon was about to declare war on you. Without swords of your own, fighting his off with warriors would have been a tall order. Definitely doable though.

Really enjoyed your detailed write-up smile

If you ever finish it and write it up, having the rest of your report to read would be awesome.

Thanks for sharing. It might be a bit _too_ detailed, reporting on every single turn is a bit of overkill. smile

I got confused by that funky mountain by your New York (my Boston) too. I didn't even find Rock of Gibraltar until about 100 turns into the game.

Yes, reloading for your worker misclick was fine. I did that often in Civ 4 events, that's fine as long as you're not actually cheating to make use of hidden information or undo strategic error. Although Civ 5 takes so much longer to reload that I usually don't bother.

Looks like Diablo might eat a lot of reports here...

Thanks for reading it, guys smile

I might be able to rushbuy a sword or two (I can't remember prices or how much gold I had, but hopefully that's the case smile ). Or upgrade a warrior or two. I do have spare iron hooked up, just hadn't made use of it yet. I'd kinda been ignoring those French units, coz they'd been there since Japan & France were at war - but they do look awfully ominous.

Yeah, that's the problem with writing it as I go, don't know what the storyline is yet, so leave in the boring details. Next time I'll try & budget time for a more thorough editing pass at the end to take out some of the "Turn X I did boring thing Y" stuff smile

That's a consistent glitch then? I'd wondered. Very odd.

Which is a shame frown I'd like to see what one of the more experienced players did for things like city placement - the two of us we've got for comparison so far settled very differently.

Yeah, every time I've seen the Rock of Gibraltar the adjacent mountain tile has had that graphical glitch.

I also didnt finish the game, but got somewhat further than you.

Washington and new york I settled 1 NE, then settled a linking city 1 E of the iron up the city. my 4th settled city was then 5W of your washington.

Got into an earlish fight with Japan which knocked them back to 1 city, then basically sat back and defended, focussing on culture, and befriended 1-3 culture states at any time. Ended up with 4 additional puppet cities from wars I defended, essentially forming a barrier for my core cities.

Was at an age where minute men and cannons were running my defense, while I cultured away (3rd city had 5 artists settled on tiles around it)
