Okay, unconscionably late, but done with the thread. Great read.
I was right to focus on you, I think. You've lost any argument for ever getting yourself into a greens game, things were pretty darned touch-and-go for a long time there, and given a different meta (red hordes not assured to be constantly pouring in), I think you'd have still had a shot. If it makes you feel any better, I was intentionally score-suppressing early and picked a later-blooming civilization precisely to avoid appearing as the tall poppy pre-Gunpowder/Civil Service. Your uncontrollably massive culture output seems to have made your neighbors nervous, too.
That being said, beyond the initial civ pick (Willem was excellent) and its related meta (in FFA AW, it's vital to have borders where neighbors feel safe) I think you played a very tight game. My winning of the lake was due to picking up a useful port before you did, and even then it was a near rum thing. Tactics were great, reporting was top-notch, and banter-in-pictures was awesome. All in all, you're a worthy adversary and I look forward to playing against/lurking you in the future. Anytime you want to duel, let me know.

If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.
