This time I threw my dice to set my starting parameter (incl. random starting spells!)
- Huge Land Size
- Magic: 2.0x
- 4 opponents
- impossible
- Nomads
- Mana Focussing
My recent spells:
- Death -> Skeletons, Darkness, Mana Leak, Black Sleep, Dark Rituals, Terror
- Nature -> Earth to Mud, War Bears, Giant Strength
- Chaos -> Warp Creature, Wall of Fire, Warp Wood
- Sorcery -> Dispel Magic True, Word of Recall, Phantom Warriors
- Arcane -> Summoning Circle, Magic Spirit
3 Cities (2 mediumsize plus 1 biggersize (capital) Nomad Cities)
no heroes present, no own nodes
6 fame
My recent (complete) army:
about 10 skeletons
6 Rangers, 4 Horsebowmen,
5 poor Spear-/Swordmen
3 Pikemen
Capital with Dark Rituals and Wall of Fire and Wall of Stone.
Total Powerbase 16 Mana?
Magic skill: 27
Taxrate: 2x !
I can build spear/sword/pike/horsebowmen and rangers
Oberic, Horus and Lo Pan declared war on me!!
About every three rounds Lo Pan or Oberic send their forces (mixture of halfling shaman, Klackons hellebardiers, nomad pikemen, hell hounds) to my cities.
Oberic likes to use LightningBolt, WarpWood (on my rangers), FireBolt
Lo Pan uses Phantom Warriors, Guardian Wind, Confusion, FireBolt
Horus prefers Heroism, Guardian Wind, StarFire (on my skeletons), Holy Weapon
I still can defend my cities without big losses with my rangers and some giant strength pikemen behind my walls,
but I think the game might be over as soon as they come with more dangerous creatures or spells.
Any ideas?
The next opponent's capital (Oberic) is mainly filled with slingers and about 16-18 landsquares away from my capital.
Oberic already started with corruption (twice), so food will become a problem.

The real problem is Huge land size. The computer opponents have lots of places to build cities, and they don't get bored managing them. They will be at 30,000 mana in no time, and crush you with attrition. Go for the smallest land size, the computers cannot build so many cities and they stay smaller.

Sounds as a hopeless cause.
You seem to have made it pretty hard on yourself with your starting choices.
Griffins will likely come to late and I suspect any fighting stack you can create will simply not be strong enough at this time.
You'd need a magic immune hero or something like that to get out of this pickle (or cheat).

Recently on Wikia I posted the thing I wanted to post basically since I first uploaded the intel on watery roads on it: http://masterofmagic.wikia.com/wiki/File...adtrap.png
Maybe this one will help? Though the picklest thing is you have to get Enchant Road.
Though with some lucky land condition and the direction opponents are moving in from you can do without enchanted roads.
The "patience" is called "patience" because it needs about twenty minutes of patience.

Last evening I continued with this random build.
Suddenly LoPan's army with 1 Paladin, 2 HighElvenMage and 6 HellHounds appeared.
One turn before they could storm my capital, the Chaotic LoPan wanted to make peace with me ^^
I was very lucky.
Having to face just on wizard for the moment (Horus also stopped war against me) I took all my rangers and horsebowmen and rushed towards Oberic's slinger capital.
What the ****! Three turns later my rangers rushing to Oberic's capital discovered Oberics slinger army crossing them, who wanted to pay me a humble visit.
Since I had 4 movement points and he only had 1 / turn with his slingers, my rangers could evade. The result: I could reach his city BEFORE he could reach mine.
And then I discovered something funny: Oberic took mostly all his slingers out of his capital to crush me and left back some poorer minions (Ork warrior hero, 2 FireGiants...) to defeat his city.
And I made it!!
Banished Oberic and although he ist not completely defeated yet, I took over 5 more cities and one chaos node he possesed.
Oberic's slinger army somehow disappeared overland on their way to my capital... food problems? ^^
Meanwhile LoPan and Horus decided to declare war again. But as I have more resources afterthat,
it looks to me much better now (if there wasnt a possible LoPan-paladin-mage-invasion!!)
My powerbase ist about 55 now, skill 33, and I got Black Prayer (I cant use ist yet), Recall Hero and Resist Elements as new spells, still no hero.
I have +60 gold/turn...
My next plan will be taking the elite rangers towards LoPan to get rid of him and build more buildings to get griffins. I still have to discover his capital.
In addition to that I will build up an additional 8-hell-hounds-army with one ranger. So I have 2 very fast big stacks to occupy weaker defeated cities.
And the best one: Oberics former capital produced slingers. I just builded up the alchemist guild over there and then let things happen (did I tell you slingers are great?) ^^

Update: (2013-08-08)
I played some more turns: My Skill is high enough for Black Prayer now and I recently found a "DoomBat"-Spell. Oberic is defeated - YES!, alchemist guild for slingers is now available, and I defeated a huge LoPan-stack again. I cancelled one of my plans (8-hell-hounds-army with one ranger). Instead of this I will try to summon a DoomBat, to put it behind my capital-castle walls. Because of its flying-ability, LoPan will have one more problem *grin* poor paladins - without flight or "disrupt", it might get worse for him...

Update (2013-08-15):
Game is almost won...
The last opponent ist Sharee on Myrror. She posseses about 20 cities, but after I used the WarpNode-Spell on her three nodes, her power I just as half as mine.
Now I can take care of the challenging nodes with the aim, to speak the spell of mastery one time. My army is well prepared if she declared war on me...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update (2013-08-16):
Within 20 turns I banished her twice and occupied about 15 cities with 5 big army stacks. I could crush her completely with my regenerative Ultra-Elite-Longbowmen army (found the Warlord retort YEAH!) but it's not worth doing so. Spell of Mastery will be researched in the next 8 rounds. SoM certainly will produce a better highscore result. Fame is 262, magic power since I also found the NodeMastery retort about 1300+ and I can sit back and relax (now year 1429). Will tell you my highscore when I 'm finished...
Update (2013-08-19):
Finished my game with a perfect 106% score ;-) (had 310 fame and 112 spells, SoM, year 1432)
