Counter magic

In the vanilla version (and according to manual it is the right one) Counter magic will try to prevent spells in combat, if it fails, the power of the spells is diminished; if it works, it is untouched.

In the latter Insecticide the power of counter magic is diminished every time the enemy casts a spell, either it is successful or not.
Only the people crazy enough to think they can change the world of Arcanus and Myrror can do it. rolleye

The manual says:
Quote:Spells cast by the enemy wizard or by enemy heroes must first
attempt to overcome the effects of this dispel magic (of strength equal
to the magic power poured into the counter magic) before they can
exert their effects. Every spell cast by the enemy drains the magic
power (strength) of the counter magic by five mana points and,
therefore, lessens its effectiveness against subsequent spells.
That means that when you cast a spell and it's stopped by counter magic, the spell has been cast (and hence should weaken the counter magic) but failed to exert its effects. Insecticide is doing the right thing.

You're right. Even the Advanced manual states the power of Counter is diminished every time the barrier is tested against an opponent spell. hammer
