Is *that* why you never invaded the HRE? We were expecting to find out if Rifle vs. Longbow was just a losing fight, or a massacre, and instead you shipped us your spare resources.

Overseas maintenance costs were a bigger part of that, plus then having and keeping enough troops overseas on a continent which seemed like everyone was heavily militarized (albeit an era behind). State Property was going to make this more palatable, but I think that conquering your own continent was going to be a better play.

I have to say that after playing this game I like Germany a lot. Their stuff is a little late, but its all really good. Trebuchets can upgrade to Kanones for like 20g a pop iirc, which is crazy.

I do want to say I hate CG on Protective a lot... there were like very small windows that I could've attacked you, but CG3 Longbows and then CG3 Rifles are just awful to deal with, and the hilly terrain made attempting to split your forces pretty impossible...

I should've attacked Yuri at some point, but idk, I kept waffling between that and trying to hit WB.

I said this in my thread somewhere (probably), but I think that being forced out onto the island early was key to my longer term recovery and success. I was also surprised how sparsely populated some of the islands were for the longest time.
