Higher resolution mod - is it possible?

With all the amazing new developments I was wondering whether it was at all possible to fix my biggest problem with the game which is that you cannot see enough of the map at any one time. I spend about a third of my playing time just scrolling about trying to remember where everything is.

Is it possible to increase the number of map tiles that you can see at once? What would need to be done to make it happen?

The tweaker allows you to see the full map and zoom in and out at leisure.
It's close to being possible to play the game in the tweaker itself.

Wow really? I thought the tool was just for tinkering with the rules not for playing the game.

If you could play it in there, then perhaps there is scope for making a whole new user interface for the game? What language is the tweaker written in?

What can I say, I guess I went a bit overboard.

It's written in C++ with Qt for the user interface.
