CML hallucinates another undeserved victory

Unsurprisingly no peace

That's not a huge stack. I should be able to deal with it. Defences in the nearest city are currently an Axe, a Spear, and a Warrior. I thought about turning on research this turn, but decided to wait, so that I had the gold on hand to upgrade that Warrior if necessary (it probably will be)

If there are more units in the fog though, things can get scarier

Barbs are annoying - not only do I not have the units to deal with them at the moment, I also can't improve the horses (I had the option of sacrificing the Worker to connect them for 1 turn, until it gets pillaged. No thank you)

Road network is something I really need to work on right now, even more than on proper tile improvements (especially considering I expect to whip heavily in the next few turns, and won't work those improved tiles anyway)

Dropbox not set up on laptop, so no screenshots while I'm away

No other units in the stack. Considering city is on a hill with 40% cultural defence, it should not fall. Barbs might end up involved - depends who they're going to attack

I microed to make sure I get another Axe in the city next turn. The option to upgrade the Warrior is still there if I need it as well

If only I could get peace - having to defend here instead of developing makes me fall further and further behind

Well, fall further and further behind is what ended up happening. dtay is attacking me with Knights against Spears, and we all know how that ends. Moreover, just this turns I realised that I cannot whip Walls because I don't have Masonry. Would've been funny if it wasn't so sad

At least my tech pace is good enough to 1-turn it. Barely. So I may be able to whip Walls next turn. Unfortunately, it's unlikely to save my capital which is under siege at the moment

I'm basically dead. I may be still kicking and screaming, doesn't mean much. I was warned I likely wasn't going to survive the Knights, and that's exactly what's happening. The tech pace just wan't good enough to make things happen - the Knights came the turn I finished HBR, and Coeur/Bacchus, my other neighbour and the civ I hoped to attack, finished Feudalism about the same time. So even if I was left alone and sent a bunch of HAs on a quest, it likely would've ended up a desperation move rather than a plan which could succeed

We do very much appreciate your caretaker efforts, though! I'm sure you at least made Dtay work for it.
