The psychedelic warlords disappeared in smoke!
Before checking the other threads, I want to speculate a bit on what went wrong without spoilers. At least this went better than PBEM 10 where I didn't see the obvious rush coming. Here, I simply was outproduced. Looking at the early turns, I was ahead in food and gold, but behind in production. I suspect that the other players built settlers earlier than I did. It's easy to have higher gold income if you pay less maintenance, but it led to me being behind in everything later. Moving a settler almost up to Gold City only to have the spot taken also didn't help. My city placement should have been more focused. I think settling Rocky Paths and then the silver location would have been the best. After settling Lighthouse, I should have gone for Gold City immediately. The lack of luxuries until Calendar definitely hurt.
Besides that, I undoubtedly made many micro mistakes that piled up.
EDIT:
Charriu, you were asking why I picked FIN/EXP + Mongolia over in your thread and didn't want to be spoiled yet. I'll edit my answer in here, so you don't have to look through my early posts and end up disappointed anyway. The truth is, I didn't think much about synergies. I made the decision in a hurry, because I didn't expect the game to move forward so fast. Mongolia had good starting techs for my start, and an early UU sounded nice. For the traits, I was still stuck with the pre-RTR mindset that FIN is great, PRO and AGG are bad. I saw the nerfs and buffs in the changelog, of course, but I overestimated FIN.
Regarding yours and Zalson's demo-screen detective work, I don't remember reassigning any tiles on turn 5, and I definitely didn't build a work boat first. My build order was builder worker-warrior-warrior-settler.
