Adventure 7 - Qwacks game

Unfortunately, didnt have time to finish it. Games with constant war take craploads of time and ive been busy all of the past 2 weeks cry . I seriously hope Ill be able to finish epic 3 before next week, havent even started it yet. Anyways ill post a mini report here up until where I played.

----------------------

I actually did start another seperate game with a teammate to see the options and all that stuff, like Sirian suggested. All the options were pretty nice, telling the teammate what to research, which city to attack. Oh yeah, I was absolutely looking forward to telling toku what to do in this game :P.

Anyhow, 2nd turn of the game, I meet 3 opponents. Catherine, Monty, and Fredirick, to my surprise, freddy and catherine were on a team. I basically figured out the theme of this game at that point, there would be individual teams. But monty wasnt on a team with anyone, I had already figured out my first victim lol

I went worker first in this game, research was set on animal husbandry, I also told toku to set it there as well. This was primarily for picking up a horse site, and make damn good use of that keshik in this game. And as you will see a bit later on, there was damn good use of it.

This was the world situation in 3460, I had decided on the second turn of the game that montezuma would be going down first. There were some horses in a superstrong whip site near monty's capital, that was where my first city would go. I had also met some other AI's at this point, Qin and Asoka were in a team as well.

I put research on bronze working straight after AH and mining, while building warriors to defend my puny empire at this point. Who needs archers tongue. My first warrior was completed in 3160 BC, and I automatically started a settler. YES, I built only 1 warrior. 1 warrior to defend 2 cities... hmm, could get interesting tongue . While my settler was being built, I improved all the tiles around my capital. I did not chop those forests, fur with the forest is very strong tile. After Bronze, I told tokugawa to start researching Horseback riding with me. Archers? Who needs archers, when we have keshiks wink . I went straight from warriors to keshiks in this game, as you will see soon. Beshbalik was founded in 2500 BC, my worker went straight to work on those horses.

Horseback Riding came in 2320, and my horses were connected right around the same time. I had also connected copper at this point, and tokugawa was being stupid, he wasnt founding another city until he got archers. Ugh... dumb AI's, nobody was going to attack him. I gifted him copper so he could build some axeman, barb's were invading at this point, but he had like 4 warriors. My first keshik was built in 1520 BC I believe, I built around 3 more, and the first war against montyzuma was declared in 1360 BC.

Also as you can see on that screenshot, I was researching Code of laws already. I was setting up the good old CS slingshot. But not for its usual use for extra research, but rather extra production. I was going to make a production powerhouse out of the capital. Oh yeah, did I mention Tokugawa was smoking something. He was absolutely sucking, so I gifted him some workers. Teotuhican was captured in 1240 BC. I sent my keshiks to grab monty's capital.

And it was captured in 965 BC, Monty is now history. Thats one less pain in the ass to deal with. Monty: Done. Next target? Qin Shi Huang. thumbsup Anyhow, while I was building up a force to attack Qin, the CS slingshot was completed. Its double effective because bearacracy is now available to tokugawa and me, and to my surprise, tokugawa switches to it. Atleast he did something good lol

I declare on Qin in 860 BC, and after doing a little round robin and capturing an outer city, my force is finally ready to take grab of the Jewish holy city, and China's capital. Here is the force:

And the city of Beijing is captured in 510 BC, I tell tokugawa to attack Nanjing right under it, on that screenshot you can see it. He had 2 axes, Nanjing had 2 warriors and a spearman. Somehow.... tokugawa wasnt able to capture it. WOW, how bad is this guy? Anyhow, I had to capture it myself, and I did. In 370 BC, we have 7 cities, 3 from China, 2 from Monty. War is great. 8)

Tokugawa is probably thinking at this point.. "2 wars in the BC era, what the crap is up with this Genghis Khan". But little did he know, we were not done yet, oh yes, we werent even close to done. In 125 BC, the third war in the BC era is started, the victim this time? Catherine the not so great! And in 6 measly turns, our great army had already demoralized catherine and captured 2 of her cities.

I show some pity and sign peace with her for 10 turns, but extort monotheism and meditation. Those 10 turns seemed like a eternity, oh yes they did. While this was going on, my plan to improve my research rate at this point lied in building the great library, but tokugawa started it before me, and I couldnt start it in any of my cities. That was somewhat annoying, I think both teammates should be able to start it, but whoever is first to build it gets it. Anyhow, I gifted him marble to speed that up. I also built the temple of soloman to improve my dire economic situation in 260 AD. Remember how I mentioned 10 turns of peace, yes, the warlords only stay in peace when they absolutely have to. In 380 AD, a powerful army was ready to invade russia... yet again.

And moscow was captured in 560 AD. I gifted St.Petersburg to Tokugawa, this seriously helped his situation and mine, since my maintenance was starting to hurt, and he was stuck to only 4 cities at this point. I also captured rostov and gifted it to tokugawa. War is great! I declared peace for another 10 turns, for monarchy of course. Once again, the 10 turns were a pain to go through. No war is like poison to us, but once we had the chance, our powerful army was ready yet again.. to put the smackdown on fredericks arse this time.

I captured some more cities, and thats where I had to stop. It was very very fun until where I played, and I truly went with the variant, going war war and more war. The only peace times were the start of the game, and the 10 turn peace treaties, everything else was war. At the point I stopped, I was getting ready to declare on Asoka. So anyways, heres the end game screens:

So anyways, there are 3 things I learned in this game.

#1, The AI does not play well in the early game without those large higher difficulty bonuses. I figured this out after watching Tokugawa. I had to gift him like 7 workers, 4 cities, and some other stuff to even make him close to as strong as me.

#2, Keshiks are superb units for the no movement penalty.

#3, 2 movement on Quick speed is great. Once again, keshiks come to mind.

This was a fun game for me, because right from the start I had decided I would absolutely go war in every situation. Maintenance, upkeep? bah, forget about them. War is great! lol lol Thanks for the adventure Sirian, its really too bad I didnt get to finish it.

Indeed. I had a blast reading your report. That was the sort of path I had in mind when I set this up.

Epic Three in just one week? Perhaps. Good luck with that if you try. I only hope it doesn't mean you end up not having enough time for either Epic Three or Epic Four, though. ... Choose wisely. smile

WOW. I was going to post a report of my incomplete game, but you already did!

First city near pigs and horsies and Monty: Check
Early Horseback Riding: Check
Keshiks trashing Monty: Check
Oracle slingshot to Beaurocracy: Check
Follow up by attacking Cathy: Check
Toku sucks completely: Check (almost got beaten up by barbs)

The main difference was that I didn't finish off Monty, who managed to found a city on a hill with three spearmen. Toku couldn't even handle the job with Samurai.

That's pretty impressive fighting. You've conquered one opponent and crippled another by the time I just started my first war. eek It would have been good to see the rest of your game.
