Gnosia FINALE
Loop 149
Both Comet and Jonas lied during the Say You’re Human sequence. JACOB finally learned Yuriko’s signature skill Seek Agreement when he increased his Charisma to 25. Shigemichi was a useful ally for a short time, especially when he used Block Argument to support JACOB on Day 3. Gina cast Definite Human on SQ on Day 3. Yuriko declared that JACOB was Gnosia in her phony Engineer report, and asked Jonas for help! JACOB tried Seek Agreement to gain support for Gina’s distrust of Yuriko.
At this point, JACOB knew Remnan was the real Engineer, and used his Guardian Angel power to protect him when possible. The trick to getting Remnan’s final Crew Data was for JACOB to say that he trusted him, then to say that he loved machines in a follow-up conversation on a later Day. Remnan had worked on and off on a deep space vessel for 50 years to “check the meters and gauges”, and spent the rest of the time in suspended animation.
When it was down to the final three, Remnan cast Definite Enemy on Yuriko, forcing her to confess to being Gnosia. Not that it mattered anyway. JACOB and Setsu returned to the strange black and white “Loop”, and they realized JACOB’s Silver Key was now full. Setsu told JACOB they could go to a Loop with no Gnosia, but I didn’t take the hint. . .
Loop 150
JACOB the Engineer was murdered on Night 2. Otome was the false Engineer, and Kukrushka lied in the Say You’re Human sequence.
FINALE
Eventually I figured out that I had to set the amount of characters to 15 and the number of Gnosia to 0, without using the Random Settings. Jonas and SQ hosted a party on the ship and made a toast on Day 0. Gina confessed to liking to make people fat, but this wasn’t a kink. Stella asked why there were two JACOBs, so Setsu and JACOB returned to the medical pod. JACOB’s Crew Data was full, but NOT Setsu’s. Therefore Setsu had to take the unconscious JACOB and enter another Loop without the JACOB they knew. “Do you understand, JACOB? I sound like Shigemichi, but. . .It’s thanks to you that I’m here now, you know?”
There was a Fire Emblem style ending just to let my readers know what happened to all these silly characters.
SQ
After landing, SQ stayed with Gina for awhile. After spending some time back in school, she became a private detective. . .for some reason.
Comet
After selling her “slime” to a black market dealer she met through Chipie, she used the proceeds to finally buy her own ship. On a planet covered in “slime”. . .The black market dealer’s own adventure begins. . .
Shigemichi
“I’m tellin’ ya! I’m a ‘Little Grey’! For reals!” With those mysterious last words, Shigemichi was never heard from again.
Remnan
After returning to Gliese with Raqio, Remnan became the leader of a rebel opposition group. His enemies feared his undying tenacity and refusal to provide quarter nor forgiveness.
Sha-Ming
Sha-Ming went on to become a famous zoologist. The animal community he created, and his amazingly intrusive methods of “examining” his subjects drew extremely mixed reactions from the scientific community.
Jonas
Jonas continued wandering the galaxy, and died alone.
Stella
After tending to Jonas’s corpse, Stella entered a sleep of her own, together with the ship. She awaits the kiss that will awaken her. . .
Raqio
After returning to Gliese, Raqio, disappointed in the strict regime, started a revolution together with Remnan. The statue of a nude Raqio now standing in Gliese Revolution Memorial Plaza serves as a popular meeting spot.
Gina
After landing, Gina returned to her position as an air traffic controller. Living a good and positive life, she was greatly loved by many.
Chipie
Chipie underwent felinification, fully becoming a cat. It is said that Comet the Adventurer constantly had a single black cat by her side wherever she went.
Otome
After returning to Nada, Otome participated in various research projects. Known as the “Mother of Intellectualization”, she became a symbol of human and animal integration.
Kukrushka
Kukrushka went with Otome to Nada, and after spending some time relaxing there, suddenly disappeared. No one knows where she ended up.
Yuriko
Unknown.
Finally the game is over! Although my Switch says it took “20 hours” (i.e. 20-24) to play, the Let’s Play took much longer to write. Jonas has the saddest ending, while Sha-Ming’s has to have the most disturbing implication. Comet may be the real villain, however: her “slime” almost doomed an entire planet! Yuriko hinted at an “encore” in her final conversation, suggesting that I could continue the game if I wanted to. But I’ve already seen everything, so that’s pointless.
As far as stats are concerned, I’d say that Logic is probably the best. Definite Human and Definite Enemy are two of the strongest persuasion spells in the game. Stealth is supposed to protect you from being killed at Night or being voted out, but even at 50 it can be disappointing if you’re on the human team. Grovel the high Stealth skill is worthless if you haven’t also built up Performance. Regret can justify Charm when attacked, although it’s still one of the lesser stats and seems to be purely defensive. Both Charm and Stealth seem better if you’re playing a “quiet Gnosia”, however.
Intuition came in handy near the end at high levels, especially since Say You’re Human could catch liars early. Don’t Be Fooled uses Intuition and is a powerful if situational counterattack. Charisma came too late to be useful for JACOB, but Seek Agreement is strong for the AI at least. Don’t know enough about Performance to say how important it is.
Gnosia was fun to play, though it really could have used more quotes during the debates, and maybe a few extra roles for certain Loops. The story continued well after the gameplay ran out of ideas. At least I get a new title screen showing the characters as a reward!
"I wonder what that even looks like, a robot body with six or seven CatClaw daggers sticking out of it and nothing else, and zooming around at crazy agility speed."
