I think my play style is too abnormal to suggest anything OP to him, so I decide to ask my forumer friends about what would be OP build to use and play in Warlord mod. So you all feel free to post and brag about. I will later compile them into guide in Moddb.
What difficulty is he playing on?
I would say a Hawkmen build with 3 Life, 3 Nature and 2 Chaos books with Warlord, Alchemist and Astrologer is a very powerful build.
Go with Heroism and Holy Armor or Healing, Fiery Fury, and Web together with Nature Witness or Survival Instinct (if you have rich on minerals).
Then go full out on Harpies in the beginning. You can easely clear out 1-2 opponents early on with that alone (don't go for the capitols though bc the lightning will kill your harpies very easy), just contain them to 1 city. As well as that you can take out alot of easy to medium lairs with it to get yourself to a very good start.
This works very well up to Master Difficulty atleast (haven't really tried it on higher than that) and doesen't rely on RNG and doesen't require any save/reload play.
Another really OP strat is with Dwarves.
Warlord, Myrran + 5 Lifebooks, 2 SorceryBooks, 2 Chaos
Lifepicks: Heroism, Heavenly Light, Holy Armor, Holy Weapon + prayer as uncommon (stream of life is also an option)
Sorcery: Resist Magic
Chaos: Fiery Fury
Just go straight for Musketeers with your capitol (Throwing in a few Arquebuisers on the way to clear easier things for easy gold is also good) and start to pump them out and enchant them. When they are Ultra Elite their only weakness pretty much are against magic which you take away quite effectivly with Resist Magic. Then you can just run away with the game bc with a stack of 5-6 of those you can take out even the hardest of lairs early on and if you have opponens close by, you'll just run through them. Use the other two starting cities to produce a settler each to get 5 dwarves citties and then work those cities to get to musketeers as well so you have atleast three cities producing them.
