At the time, I though running the game well past 2050AD was the 'gamey' element. I could probably have kept building units for another 100 years and been a lot closer in numbers as Qin's army seemed to level off at around 39 million. Probably limit of how many he could afford to support.
However his production killed me in the end. I lost around 5 million off my soldier count and I know he lost a lot more but he still had 35 million left when I retired.
I think only a blitzkrieg attack which drove him off my continent quickly would have been viable....but I don't think it would have given me enough to dominate without moving to his continent.
