Epic Seven : Kodii's Report

My report can be read here.

I've already scanned through many people's reports. I was actually surprised by the lack of losses. After my Cultural Victory, I went back to see how I'd do if I tried a military approach. Lets just say that I didn't last very long lol

Warriors in 1961 and a friendly Alex. What an unusual game.
Well done.

Ha, that was a pretty funny military advisor at the end of the game. Well played - definitely different to most of the other reports up so far. A bold move to make friends with your competitor, backing yourself to beat him peacefully.

Well done indeed. I was hoping somebody would get on Alexander's good side. You did, thanks to that supremely lucky roll on getting his religion in a city of yours (the capital, no less) before he declared war as he did to everybody else.

Still, my cultural victory date was 55 years ahead of yours, and that was with my cities often diverting to military. Your Legendary cities are unbelievably small in those endgame screenshots -- Thebes and Heliopolis at size 8, and Elephantine at size FIVE?! huh They had a health cap of 5 in the endgame? eek eek Did you never construct aqueducts, grocers, granaries, hospitals?

No I didn't. I'm not terribly experienced with working my cities to their fullest, and this was actually my first Cultural Victory. My game really had three steps:

1) Suck up to Alex
2) Focus three cities on culture
3) Keep pressing Enter lol

EDIT: I think I also spent too much time focusing on Great People. I'm not very good a producing a good GP factory, but in this game, I ended up making three some how lol

It makes me happy to see someone pull a suck up Cultural victory off on Alex, after my Epic V disaster trying the same strategy! I think you took a big risk switching to Universal Suffrage (especially when Alexander went Free Religion), but it worked out great for you in the end. Very nice win.

Your opening:

Research Path: Mining -> Bronze Working -> Masonry
Build Queue: Worker -> Warrior (?) -> Settler
Second City: NE of Stone, 2470 B.C.

The reason why I took Universal Suffrage after researching Liberalism (at 0% lol ), was because I felt no reason to continue my research. Free Speech was a great help at speeding up my game a bit. Universal Suffrage also allowed me to rush a lot of those 50% culture religious buildings. In the end, I could have switched back, but I probably forgot.
