Epic 7 - Openings Comparison

I founded all the black dots except the southern city which I placed on the canal spot. It lost 2 coast tiles for ice, and gained 1 (also irrelevant in this case) health point from the tundra forest, but the city was never going to grow that big anyway in a fast domination game.

I added Iustus' cities on to the previous pic (thanks for fishing out a screeny, Iustus thumbsup ), tho it doesn't change anything significantly in the picture.

Colour coding the dots took less time than I thought 8) So here is the same data shown in a different way - this picture emphasises the spread of the city choices whereas the other one emphasised the convergence. The dots are colour coded as follows:

Pink = 20-23 settled here
Red = 15-19
Blue = 10-14
Yellow = 5-9
Black = 1-4

I am curious how many settled the little isle to get the iron.

One thing I was curious about was how many people successfully completed some slingshot or pyramids/GL combo? It seemed like just about everyone except for myself was successful in catching some early wonders.

Looking at my game, the GL did not fall until late into the AD years, I probably could have got it with some more directed effort.

I did choose to settle the little island and it actually turned into a respectable little fishing village.

It's most useful purpose however was a bolthole for a "Bathing Beauty" when playing 'now you see her, now you don't' with Alex's frigates and destroyers. It was also a handy way point to the island south of Greece and west of Egypt.

I noticed in my screenshot that my iron fishing village was size 12, that seems worth founding to me. Alex controlled the seas whenever he wished in my game, so there were no issues of hide and seek. It was more like hide and beg for peace.

I did, but much later -- for frigates and ironclads, not swordsmen and knights.

I'm in the Pyramids-GL camp on that one, and it worked out quite well. I did a cultural victory so I needed a specialist economy to push great people (engineers early, artists later), and had the Sistine Chapel and Mercantilism for more specialist synergy as well.

I settled on the iron isle as soon as I had iron working. But I had the Colossus, so the site paid its way pretty quickly.

Cool dotmap. I too founded where most people founded, except in the north where my people wanted their fish.
