nice game, tough luck on the diplo votes. It has happened to me more than a few times, and its extremelyh annoying..
Wow at Gandhi's culture. That is the closest I have ever seen the AI getting to a cultural victory.

Enjoyable recap. I wish I had checked out where Delhi's culture was at the end of my game, but I bet it was pretty close to the OMG level you saw at the end of yours.

Looking back at it, what did me in, ironically, was gifting the cities to Ghandi to boost his population -- he was Toku's "worst enemy" and my "you traded with our worst enemy" penalty went from -2 to -4 in the process of gifting cities. Toku never did cancel the defensive pact as a result, though. I also never hit friendly with Toku, which I think is a "requirement" for the diplomatic win. notopt
Congrats on what turned out to be a close victory!
Fun report. Focus may be overrated, you know. One of the other players said that fastest finish is a de facto scoring condition, but it's not. The unscored games are meant to compare on a wider basis, with players free to chase any form of fun or excellence they like. Sulla's Epic Five game is a good example, where instead of the "suicide economy" approach of pushing to military while teetering on bankruptcy, Sulla managed to win an impressive military win and also build an outstanding self-sustaining civ from that fetid jungle mess. This was a pretty good read. We'll see how things go for you in Potluck. As for the mushrooms, do you think that's a video RAM issue? Or a standard RAM issue? Looks like a few bytes went haywire. Does that happen often? (sometimes memory issues are erratic rather than always fatal.) Anyway, close call, but a win's a win. - Sirian

(sometimes memory issues are erratic rather than always fatal.) That's the first time I had that occur - I don't think it was a video RAM issue, unless Civ 4 keeps the entire world map rendered in memory at all times. The effect stayed in that spot, never changed, and was on top of any units or improvements that passed through the area. Windows may have screwed something up during an alt-tab while taking notes. I recently (around Adv 10, I believe) added 1 GB of RAM to my system (now have 1.5 GB), which did improve a lot of gameplay aspects. However, I still get a 1, or even 2, turn lag on the notifications, which can be quite annoying - I can carry on and hope for the best, or I can wait a few minutes at the start of each turn just to wait for the logs to catch up.
