Huh, again in the same (fishing ?) boat. The colossus was really great for this game and man I missed irrigation too

I'm glad I'm not the only one who find the AI a bit competitive on monarch. Not enough to make you loose, but at least it does try to defend itself and go for wonders efficiently

Pretty city list you had there Blid, full set of religions + the same corporation in each! Looked like a well played culture victory. The funny thing is I expected the natural strategy for Maya to be invading the Dutch because of their nice land, and neither of us did.

About the modern units, Mobile Artillery have a niche when you don't have air superiority. I haven't actually seen the need to build mobile SAMs since Mech Inf have an intrinsic air intercept chance. The missile cruisers are probably the most effective of the new units as when loaded they are a big favourite against battleships, the only downside is the micromanagement involved in building and loading the missiles. It would be better if there was an automated way to do this.

Sorry folks -- I wasn't able to finish the game. I haven't resolved my chewed up CD1 issue yet.

To summarize my part-game: As you know the Maya had a central start. Early in the game, when I had only 3-4 cities, I got Joao ticked at me (religious differences, refusal to give tribute) and he declared war . It was funny because Joao had to march for miles on end just to get to my territory but march he did.

Sitting Bull (southern neighbour) saw an opportunity to kick me in the backside and declared shortly after. A long, indecisive two front war ensued. I didn't lose anything but it hampered my growth quite a bit.

I finally got both sides to agree to peace. At that point I was second from the bottom in score and had some serious economic issues. My next game session was to have me plan a recovery somehow. I'm still used to jumping in the lead early on Noble so I don't know whether I could've turned it around.

My dog decided I wasn't feeding him enough so munched my CD, so it'll be a while longer before I know for sure.
