Adventure 23

I beelined straight to iron so that I would be in time to grab it with my second city. Built enough terrain improvements for the cities to work then set my workers to chopping trees and building roads towards the enemy.

Build Barracks and lots of praetorians with a couple of chariots to scout, pillage and pick off loose axes.

Having Korean city names not being under the control of the Korean leader was confusing...

Well, that cleared things up. Kept these two cities for production. I figured there would be some wacky AI civ combos too and Tokugawa of Native America was next. I lost several elite units in the struggle against his super-archers and dog soldiers. During this war a GG was spawned and became a Medic 3 chariot to keep the troops rolling on as quickly as possible while I trained a new army to take out Hatshepsut of Arabia. She was basically a free kill without any warrior traits or relevant UU.

Note I hadn't bothered to build any economy at all and the empire is hugely in debt, relying on razing cities and pillaging to pay the army.

After that there was the long march to Babylon. I thought protective Bowmen might be tough to get through, but most of the defenders were actually melee units and axes were not really a problem by this point in time.

Conquest in 75 BC. Thanks for the quick game Atlas, it was fun just mercilessly stomping the AIs for a change.

Nice game Uberfish! You must have some serious self restraint to go Iron Working before Animal Husbandry lol, but I think it payed off for you

Well at least this combo worked out even if ...

Kylearan is not going to be happy seeing that pre-Christ victory date smile. Well done as usual.

The fact that both uberfish and sooooo went for Iron Working before Animal Husbandry seems like a significant point. Every turn counts in the early going; getting Praetorians even 10 turns sooner clearly made the wars decisively easier. What can wait, should wait. nod

Nice game uberfish. Looks like you weren't scared to take on Toku second like I was.

Regarding AH, it wasn't just AH, you would need to research hunting or agriculture first. Plains cow is a 3/3 tile, which is only 1 more hammer than the 1/2 plains forest I was working. I guess you could have used the extra food for slavery though. I don't think I revolted to slavery in my game. If I'd have known there were horses in the capital's BFC then maybe I would have gone for AH instead of turning off research since horses are a high hammer tile and I ended the game on a high gold total. I got a bit too cautious turning off research straight after iron working.

Hi,

good game! Ignoring AH and going for IW directly, like sooooo and you did, is really something I wouldn't have considered doing if I had tried a rush; I clearly have no experience in rushing. Lesson learned, thanks for that! smile
