I'm still a newb here at RB (finished and reported in only 3 events so far), but I'll chip in.
Slightly longer durations are a plus -- I've had several events which ended incomplete due to lack of time, even after starting right after the announcement. RL limits my Civ time, and longer durations would help to complete and report in more events.
I also strongly agree that having two games open at a time is good. Not every event appeals to everyone, and for lesser-skilled players such as myself some of the tougher games don't work out. (They have this unpleasant tendency to end rapidly with my last city in flames. ) The current Adventure 26 is just beyond my current skills, for example; of course, it is officially an extreme adventure.
I also really like the idea of the Imperia. I still enjoy a good game of MOO, and some events there could be great fun.
Thanks for all the effort you put in, Sulla. I'm looking forward to the next epic, and Monday should be about perfect as I'm hoping to finish my current personal game this weekend. I'll need a new challenge.

I have not been actively around here for quite some time and what little gaming time is left to me was spent on DF, HoI2DD and a bit MOO in the last 6 months. However, I am planning to take part in a one or the other CIV game in 2008.

I don't care how many games you start up, but the only preference I have is that each game should last around 6-8 weeks rather than the current 4-6 weeks average

What about using major mods like FfH2 and Rhye's? I think FfH2 would be particularly well-suited for RB's variant playstyle. Several civilizations in that mod have unique mechanics that completely change the gameplay (angels and demons who get free units when mortals die, a 3CC civ that can work more tiles per city, vampires who grow stronger by opressing their population, etc.) and even the basic civs play differently due to a much broader tech tree, with magic and religion branches. In fact, that mod is so different that it could have its own category, as a separate game. There is only so much you can do with regular CIV, and after two years major mods might bring variety back to the game.

I agree but getting an event figured out may be hard because of the uniqueness of the mod.
It's off the topic somewhat, but would anyone be interested in a FfH sucession game?

Yes . I though uberfish was going to set something up but he has been absent for some time.
Disclaimer: I have never played FfH.

I PMed uberfish a while ago to see if he was setting it up but he has been absent. I'll start something up soon.

I'd also like to hear more ideas coming from you guys; I haven't gotten a scenario proposal in months! The calendar is wide open now for you to sponsor your own game, if you can come up with a compelling idea. Games-wise, I think encouraging people to post that they'll play then asking for a general progress update midway through the available time might encourage more people to complete their games. Peer pressure is a wonderful thing
Score-wise, I think it needs to made explicit whether only victories will be considered for scoring.
I have a couple of game ideas that I'll email shortly.

I for my part played in way more games then I reported, as I tend to loathe the endgame and with some games made mistakes that ruined my game.

Oh yeah, sorry guys. I never did get round to starting it up since I got burned out on civ4. I would be interested in playing a FFH SG still, but it would probably be best if someone else were to organize it.
