My New Addiction = Hellgate Vacation

Hey fellow RBer's. Sorry I've been a no show in recent weeks... thanks to Lord of the Rings Online. I always love LoTR, it's characters, lore, the story (books and movies). And recently LoTRO is offering a 14-day free trial. So I decided to try it out and I immediately fell in love with the game. It is closer to a WoW type MMORPG, but it is more PvE oriented (PvP in the form of duels, or Monster Play, allowing you to create high level monster characters and fight with other high level players). It is also better written, the storyline is better narrated, and the scenary is absolutely beautiful. The game itself is also very technically matured, there are very few bugs, features are quite complete and functional. There are just always some quests to do -- the quest log keep track of 40 quests and I can't even pickup every single quest I came across. And then there are player/guild (kinship) housing, which you can add additional storage space (can be shared across your alts, or guild members), and has many different style to choose from, and you can decorate your home with various internal/external decorations, which you can buy/construct/capture (you can stuff that big fish/bear you killed and show it off in your house!)

These are just a few things I love about the game. The various races and classes are fun to play too. They are similar to some of the common fantasy based RPG classes but with some interesting twists. I would totally recommend this game to you all and hope to journey Middle Earth together with you. Please go to http://www.lotro.com and you will find a link to the 14 day free trial. And they are also offering a $9.99 digital download of the game (offer ends 6/30) and $9.99 a month subscription (with a 3 month increment). They also offer a lifetime sub for $199... I am only going with the 3 month for now.

If you decided to try out the game and would like to look for me, this is my game info:
Server/Realm: Nimrodel
Character names:
Nougaran (Human Captain)
Nourin (Dwarf Guardian)
Inarien (Elf Champion)
Snoopo (Hobbit Burglar)

Hope to see you in Middle Earth!

PS: As a trial user, you can add my toons as friends, but you won't be able to send Tell directly to me (to avoid griefers and spammers). Please reply to this post and let me know your character name so I can add you to my friend's list too, then you can send me tells.

BTW, I hope this doesn't sound like an advertisement for the game, nor am I trying to steal ppl from RB (I know no one can to do that). Honestly, the thing I love about RB are the ppl in this guild, and this guild is the greatest thing I found through playing HGL (not all the uniques and legendary items, nor the dye kits.. lol )

I enjoy playing games with you all since you are always helpful, friendly and fun. Now that I will be spending time in a different game, it's just my wishful thinking that you guys will be in that game too.

But even if you decide to not try out LoTRO, since I got the Founder deal with HGL, I will come back to HGL later. I hope you will not treat me as a stranger then. wink (And in fact, I will probably log in this weekend to empty all my alt's mailboxes to avoid losing the attachments from mail purge...)

I haven't known you long, but I've enjoyed playing with you very much. Now, who are we going to have as Guardian for a great Moloch run? frown

I know what you mean about wanting to take the friends you make in one game along with you to the next one. I left a few behind when I went to HG:L, but I'll bet we meet up again eventually. If I try LoTR, I'll certainly look for you. I'm delighted that you're enjoying it. Happy gaming to you!!! thumbsup

Just a few months and so many bad news for HGL... I heard FSS was in trouble... but never thought it would go out of business, and now the online version of the game will be shutdown in a few month too!? It's sad how a game with such great story and concept would go under like this, I think it's complete mis-management. :thumbsdow I am a founder, bought the collector's edition, and then bought another copy just for muling... and I'm sure I was not the only one because there were so much anticipation on the game. FSS screwed up by rushed out the game, instead of waited a few more months to polish it up, properly tested it and fixed those major bugs... they created major bad press with all the problems... how could one recover from such bad reputation? banghead

Oh well, as I said, best thing out of this game was got to know you guys and joined RB, a lot of fun adventure we had together. innocent

I'm still playing LoTRO and here is my latest toon names, in case any one want to meet me in Middle Earth. nod

Server/Realm: Nimrodel

Nourin (Dwarf Guardian)
Inarien (Elf Loremaster)
Audrien (Human Hunter)
Morenia (Hobbit Minstrel)

Actually, I haven't been on LoTRO in the past 2 weeks... thanks to Fallout 3. An awesome single player RPG, one of the best games I've ever played. Let me know if any one is playing FO3 too and would like to chat about it. smile

Was gonna just stop by the forum and say hi but ended up with a long post again.

BTW, who created all those awesome new smilies? And the Diablo ones are just so cool!
