Afraid I don't know the reference.

I would argue that since you were still working out the mechanics of the scoring system, you were at a bit of a disadvantage compared to those of us who knew the exact numbers in advance. I'd be perfectly fine with your score being counted as legitimate.

That said, nicely played game! Seems to me that the best way to score high in diplomacy is to organize a dogpile right before the scoring date. I like invading worlds just as much as you do, but my desire for good relations gave me a glass jaw much like your typical Psilon.

I did get the reference. I knew it immediately when I read it, because I played that game, although I spent a lot more time watching a high school friend of mine play it. I'm honestly not saying this to brag, but recalling that was so fast for me, that I thought you must be referring to something else! I thought the game title must have been based on some historical conspiracy or something. Until I looked in Wikipedia and didn't see any reference to any such other context.

Good game for the inaugral scoring outing. Diplo & research scores surged in the second half to an impressive total - congrats on your triad proficiency. The Silicoid expansion in your game varied totally from mine, producing a totally different game.

Keep coming up with good ideas for many more games.

Thanks for those early details and the fun and informative report, as well as for sponsoring this highly enjoyable game! I'm glad you played a "standard" opening in spite of Maalor's large size and Ultra-Richness, for comparison purposes with those of us who made Maalor our de-facto homeworld. I think overall you played a much stronger game than I did in spite of my higher score; I wouldn't have come close to your score if I hadn't maxed Maalor ASAP. I would also concur with Megafrost that you were actually at a disadvantage for scoring purposes because you were still working out the scoring system. For example, I made a dedicated effort to meet my fourth race by 2375, and then to boost my total relations score with a bunch of nuclear bombers; it's not so easy to do that if you don't even know yet how many points different relations will be worth!

And yeah, I too recognized "Rise of the Triad," as mentioned in my report. A highly amusing game, though without anything like the longevity of MoO.
