A variant's lament Warning: whimpering and whining and venting inside

Venting:

First, the confession.

I really really want to see how ShadowWitch fares in the end game. I want to know if the premise of a pure support character is viable. I want to know if she can make a team stronger by her presence or whether she will merely add to the exp garnered by the 'real' characters who are doing all the killing.

So I have been building her towards that initial goal of being a pure support character. To that end, she will be aiming to play with maxed Witch Doctor, Hand of Nostrum, Brom's Curse, Elemental Drain and Spectral Elemental. She will achieve these through a combination of 'hard points' and items with those skills on them.

Now the whimpering:

This, however, poses a problem for solo play, because none of those skills are killers. So, she has placed one point in Warper and has a couple weapons on swap that add to Warper and to Spectral Curse. Additionally, she has a magnificent Harp Rifle that has +2 Force Elemental, +1 Toxic Elemental, +2 Fire Elemental and +3 Hand of Nostrum. So, for solo play, her Modus Operandi is to cast Warper and Spectral Elemental and then swap to the Harp Rifle and keep the two Force Elementals up and tanking for her and the Warper.

This is mostly effective, but it is slow going.

Add in one more wrinkle to the story. For some reason, whenever I park a character in the game, within an hour, I get an exception error and the game shuts down.

So, the reason I am posting this is to vent and say that I am utterly weary of The Strand and Blackfriars. Today, I took my sixth try at working my through to Puddle Dock. I ever-so-slowly made my way to the entrance to Puddle Dock, and then ran out of time - again. So I parked in Temple Station and went off to do my chores and errands. And when I came back, once again, there I was, staring at the error message and knowing that I would get to cautiously traverse that dried out river and those narrow and winding city streets one more time, at the very least.

She made it! One heart sample from the Exospector collected and handed in to Ser Sing. She almost leveled again on the trip; nothing like repeating areas to make sure you stay close to the mlvl/clvl curve, eh?
