Imperium 19 - RefSteel's Long-Lived Rocks

This one surely has the highest gameplay-to-report-length ratio of all my Imperia games thus far. The full report is in the usual place - the scoring and related notes are at the end.

The actual gameplay in this one was slightly insane; I'm pretty sure it took me longer to play any given decade between ~2370 and ~2420 than to play all three of the last centuries combined. The game was lots of fun in any number of different ways; I hope everyone else who had a chance to play enjoyed it too!

Wow, I'm noticing that most (2 of the 3) of the people were able to reach the eastern half of the galaxy. I think I was too busy filling out to the west to take Endora and had the Alkari loot it (thus loosing a stepping stone world).

But having nothing to research for 150 years?!? That's just incredible!

The report was a joy to read, as always. I still admire your ability to fluff things out and still show what happened ingame.

I probably don't comment enough on these games, but I should say that I really, really enjoy RefSteel's in-character reports. More than is healthy. jive

These are fun to read! They remind me of the things people write for their Dwarf Forts smile

Many thanks for all the compliments! I'm glad people other than me enjoy reading these!

KnTenshi: The scary thing is that I'm not sure how much more than 150 years it was. By that point in the game, I was basically just hitting N a lot, and that's when I noticed, "Gosh, I haven't had a tech hit in a while!" and started to realize why! I actually didn't notice that no new-tech-option screens had been appearing until I'd finished the game and played a shadow from a ~2500 savefile to recreate what happened; I'd just been clicking through no-options-but-the-next Advanced-Tech so long, I didn't notice when they ceased to appear.

Sulla: Your comments are definitely always appreciated. And I'm pretty sure I enjoy writing these more than is healthy, too....

Arne: Thanks for commenting, and welcome to the Realms Beyond! Any chance that you'll try out Imperium 20? Um ... and dare I ask what Dwarf Forts are?

Dwarf Fortress is a Rogue-like (ascii RPG) which has an amazing depth. Because the game has simple graphics, the developer is able to flood the game with features (very few art assets have to be made). There's a lot of emergence which makes the game very involving.

There's a forum section just for stories. Here's the 'best of' thread.

I'm still very much a beginner at MoO1 so I'm not sure if I'd survive in an Imperium game for long. I discovered it just last year and I've only played it through a few times. When the maps get big (in any strategy game) I tend to lose because I halt expansion (because I'm a Turtle). I haven't tried beating the game without making any colonies though. I guess the Psilons would be ideal for that.
