Adv48: Ruff's Gold

Very impressive game, Ruff_Hi! bow

interesting- seems like the mass gold strategy is beating the mass food strategy. I guess gold has enough early research power that the food (specialists) don't have time to catch up before the game is over.

For everyone's reference, the easy way is:

1) Edit up your .ini file so it says cheatcode = chipotle (instead of the cheatcode being blank)
2) Hit Ctrl-Z in-game
3) Open up the tech tree screen. You can view this screen for each player.

Nice tip, Seven, I didn't know that.

Ruff, your scoring sounds right to me. Except... why in the world did you put an extra gold tile outside the city BFC? I see one in your screenshot 2 NE of the city, was there a second as well? Anyway, if they did not affect the game (the city obviously couldn't work them, but they could have been trade or corporate bait, but not if you never improved them) I think we can overlook that slip of the mouse for scoring.

I put it in while editing my BFC by mistake and only realized about 40 turns in ... thought it was too late to de-edit it at at that stage.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Compared with five gold/flat tiles, you gain three hammers at the cost of seven commerce. It is not clear to me which is better, but it is clear 1645 AD whups ass smile.

I think the better question is why a hill instead of a plains? Plains/flatland/gold and grassland/hill/gold are both 1/2/8 tiles mined, but there is no movement penalty for flatland, and you start with visibility on the gold anyway. I guess it's academic if everything is forested and no one ever attacks you. 1645 is an amazingly fast fast finish.
