Figured I might as well ask this in the newbie thread:

Are there any other requirements to upgrade an Angel to the Angel of Death besides having Guilds and having level 4+? I finished researching Guilds last turn, and I have an Angel of level 5, but I can't upgrade it. It's outside my borders, if that matters... does it need to be in a city with a specific building or something?

I’ve got a couple of noobish questions relating to Infernal Pact in an Always War scenario (I wonder what this could be related to? ).

If I summon Hyborem, and choose to continue with my original Civ:
1. Am I also immediately at war with the Infernals?
2. Is the AI smart in using Hyborem’s Whisper?

If my expectations are correct, then it seems like a bad idea to bring the Demons into the game if I’m intending to stick with my original civ (let’s call them the Doviello for simplicity ).

1) yes
2) I'm not so sure on this one since I don't normally summon hyborem without the intent to swap to him, but from seeing hyborem pop up in random games I don't think he uses it. You might want to check this in case it's different in situations where hyborem is war with someone with AV though.

An AI infernal player will use the worldspell but only rarely from what i've seen, combined with the fact you need the Malevolent Designs Tech means it will often not happen.

I have seen it used, to steal my own cities away mostly, but there is no Strategic thought put into it, it's only AI after all.

(My favourite use of Hyborem's Whisper is to spread the Ashen Veil to the Red Dragon City and then steal that :-p )

EDIT: It's a shame the Apprentice/Newbie FFH2 idea never happened. It would have been fun to watch or help out with.

I've actually gotten two PMs from new RB people in the last few days saying that they would be interested in participating in this game, after I noted in Mr. Yellow's thread that the concept of a newbs game had been brought up here earlier.


If the people who PM'ed me are reading this (I can't message them back apparently because they either have replies turned off or have no posts): to be clear, I am not organizing this game. I just want to lurk it, if it occurs. But I get the impression that there's probably enough people now for you guys to throw something together, so start posting here & discussing settings amongst yourselves.
