Insecticide combat AI is in many cases stupider than vanilla

While I appreciate the lack of stall bugs, where monsters will stop advancing for no apparent reason, having units, particularly units with first strike or breath weapons, going running around my units (which they can kill) to chase an archer (who they can't reach) is just dumb. Target selection in vanilla AI wasn't great, but Insecticide's attempt to be smart is actually dumber than vanilla.

Yea. It ignore the nearest unit in order to kill more damaged unit. This can be used to draw battle instead of loose it in many couses. I believe, there is nothing impossible to fix (buck). Let just describe it precision.

Juicy headline, Anthony, I really could not miss that one. There is already a thread dedicated to combat AI, it seems.

If you are interested in reverting combat AI to vanilla, feel free to suggest it (in that thread if possible) and gather more partisans. I have no problem in accepting such a move and it will be fairly easy from the technical point of view.

I'd have to agree. They tend to chase the ranged units, which you can use to kite the enemy forces all over the battlefield while they ignore the other (melee) units.

What about letting people chose the AI (old or new)?

I can provide 2 minipatch to change Insecticide combat AI to either old or new moving style, if you tell me the differences. jive
Only the people crazy enough to think they can change the world of Arcanus and Myrror can do it. rolleye
