Update!
We are currently on turn 42. Things are continuing normally, and I am simply teching forward. Of note, I have settled a second city to my East, and I have been enlightened with the technology Festivals from a tribe or villagers. Our nice little bustling civilization can be seen here: The revealed land is much the same - most of my scouts have died from one thing or another. Here is the Southeast and Western lands: Finally, I am proud to say I am first in GNP by a fair margin. I am not quite as impressive in crop yield or production, but both of those are likely due to growing empires and the orcs desire to amass an early army. Demographics are here: My plan in the coming turns is to finish researching Code of Laws and tech up to Hunters (Exploration->Hunting). There are two main reasons for this. First, I would like to go into the Fellowship of Leaves religion for easy access to culture and powerful recon units (Fawns.) Secondly, I feel that the Orcs are amassing an army to use on someone. Now, this army could be meant for the Balseraphs, but it sounds as if they have a strong barrier of spiders. I, on the other hand, have no such strong barriers. Thus, I find it likely that I will be under attack early on. I need something to defend with, and Hunters are a solid option. So, things will continue on naturally. I may try to put up a third city sometime in the near future, but I'm wary of the costs. Still, a third city would be useful, and if I do have to deal with the Orcs the extra production will be well worth the cost in research.
What units do you have?
Erebus in the Balance - a FFH Modmod based around balancing and polishing FFH for streamlined competitive play.
I currently am skimping, having only 4 warriors and my initial prophetic mane (special unit, lots of promotions and 4 defensive strength.)
However, there is large news this turn! I have come in contact with the Balseraphs! They are actually very close to me. I am actually very happy with this, because they are almost directly between me and the orcs. While there is the possibility they've allies the clan, there is also the large possibility that they will be a buffer for me. In addition, here are the two city screens I forgot to grab last turn:

I would need to research crafting first, and all it gives me in terms of economic benefits is a single gems resource. I'd rather just get my aristofarm economy started earlier, especially since I can build hunters quickly using the conquest civic.
I died. Sorry about not updating much. I ended up getting hit by a few units from the Clan and was running very light defense. I needed a few more turns to really start pumping out massive amounts of warriors/hunters, but alas the Clan took advantage of my moment of weakness.
