Ive watched your videos. Im the guy that recommended you the Dominions series games.
Some advice to be cheesy:
On your guy:
Some added defense, double strike, life steal. Later wall climbing
When you approach an enemy stack or city: split only one unit, the fastest, and leave all the other units just next to the enemies. Move only that fast unit to attack. Then all the units participate in the battle but ony one moved. Saving movement points.
Defend your cities with ballistas and walls.
Always explore and capture undefended mines with lonely (canon fodder) units.
When youre done with AoW1 you could try the next: AoW: shadow magic that is basically AoW2 with the expansion.
You probably should then patch it with 1.3 and 1.4 unofficial patch.
There are some mods out there you could also try.
Pros and cons:
AoW1 gets better music and ambient and a good campaign story.
AoW:SM has a better balance of units-races-spells and gameplaywise its better at everything. The hero-king its not as cheesy as AoW1 because he does not get experience and is supposed to sit in a wizard tower (like MoM)
Then after that you could try AoW3. Its faster paced and tactical battles are improved over SM. Still ranged units are too good and the cheesy Wizard king that gets experience is back. It gets balance issues because ranged units are so strong and higher tech choices. I find the builds that let me summon a really powerful high level units much better than the ones that let me recruit a high level city unit. IE Wizard instead of Saint (or wathever is called the religion type). This game i find to stress my notebook resurcewise.

Thanks for the tips.
I should have the next video out soon, my main hero has invested too much into archery to switch to life stealing melee now. But a secondary hero with those abilities would be amazing.
When I try the second campaign though...
Those orc ballistas are vicious. So powerful!
I'm actually really looking forward to the mods, and to AoW 2 and 3. I imagine this serious is going to keep me occupied for some time to come.

Finally released a new part. Btw, ever had skeletons lose faith and leave you?
Well now I can say that I have. And that I had to bargain with them.

I've been neglecting you guys lately, so sorry. I've been continuing the AoW LP. And I'll be doing more MoM and other strategy games in the near future.

These next few maps are over very quickly. That's not to say that mistakes aren't made, just that they resolve rapidly.

Good LP man. Age 1 was awesome but Age 2 was way better and the one that really felt like a spiritual MoM sequel. Was just brilliant to play! I haven't got my hands on a copy of Age 3 yet but it looks even more amazing in the videos I've seen.
I don't remember really having any trouble with the addon pack for HoMM 2. HoMM 3's addon packs had some tough levels and I remember getting stuck in a couple of HoMM4's addon pack campaigns but I got there in the end. Was a loooong time ago that I played them though so I can't remember the difficulty settings lol.

Sooner or later I'm going to check out AoW2 and I've already bought 3 though I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I really enjoyed AoW1.

You'll love it mate, AoW2 is so damn good.
Well if you're still playing AoW1 and looking for an exciting LP opportunity then I recommend playing as the Humans (since you don't get to use them much in the campaigns) on the giant 16 player slaughterfest map called "After The Fall". Every race in the game on a giant map (with underground too) fighting for survival!! If you can get to a size 4 city and migrate your humans there you can build Air Galley's and Cavalry that will give you a good chance of survival against the masses haha.
I think I have some pictures of me playing the map on my Age of Wonders Series Webpage mixed in with some regular campaign ones.

That sounds great. I'd love to try it.
Right now I'm caught up in Beta testing a game that's about to come out, and I have a couple large projects just getting ready to sit on me. But As soon as I can I'll try to find the time to try 'After the fall'.
