Just came across this today - Soren Johnson and Dorian Newcomb discuss the development of Civ4, complete with examples of prototype builds as work on the game progressed. I had somehow missed this great video at the time it originally came out, so I figured I'd share it here in case anyone else also hasn't seen it yet. Well worth a watch for anyone interested in hearing more about how a game like Civ4 comes together. smile

Soren's rant about tiles near the end of part six, even going so far as placing tiles above the turns, is the best way to show why Civ4 is so different than 5.

Edit: Soren also said that he put in teamers to hide the fact that there can be only one winner and people drop when they are losing. Too bad the poor gamespy hosting of Civ4 makes real arguments about it impossible both ways. I'm glad GameSpy is dead but for Civ5 they went PtP which turned out even worse. I wonder what they will do next time? They will probably just use Civ5's code to get a bullet point on the box.
