Night Stalker

Night Stalker is the only Death creature where I feel "no healing" is too much of a disadvantage. Any suggestions what to do about it?

Regeneration is a big no, same for lifesteal, those abilities are too good for this unit.
Not sure if changing the "realm" byte for the unit to Chaos would cause any problems, but I guess it would enable healing?

Setting Night Stalker (and Werewolves) to neutral don't cause major problems, other than being unable to be targeted with star fires and dispel evil. But if you think of it, death needs to have some useful counters to life.

If you do, make sure to give them building requirements that are impossible to meet (such as an unused building)

Changing the realm to chaos will cause it to get bonuses in chaos nodes, which may not be what you want, and be affected by things that work on chaos (including dispel evil). Some other race might be better.

I wanted Chaos exactly for that reason : It was a Death unit, so it should be get affected by Dispel Evil, Star Fires, and the like.
Node auras are a problem though. Maybe Neutral really is better. It won't get buffed by Darkness either which is bad.
The cleanest solution would be to find where units heal in the code and make this one an exception, until I find that, I guess Neutral might be an acceptable temporal solution.

Cleanest solution might be change the check for death race into a check for an unhealing bit (the Undead bit is appealing, but isn't part of the unit template, so you'd have to add it when certain critters were summoned).

My preferred solution: If we can somehow make undead units heal, but at a lowered rate (I propose 2% per turn), it should balance things out smile
