Hmm. If Gavagai takes Joey's capitol I think that will leave only three serious contenders in the game.

Maybe? I think I called attention to most of the major balance issues (though I missed some things like the corner civs' ability to fort around the ice to connect the inner and outer sea) when I reviewed the map, but I didn't communicate them as well as I might have. First of all, I'd forgotten that Tasunke had asked for suggestions to be edited into a suggested alternate map, so my general comments may not have done a lot of good. Second of all, the holy cities may have thrown things off, as Tasunke may have had the impression their locations compensated for the number-of-neighbors issues. I'd like to know your opinion too: If Tasunke and lurkers like me had put our heads together for longer and wound up with a more balanced map, but it had delayed the game by another week or two, would that have been a good trade-off? At the time, I was worried that if things were delayed much longer, the game would just die on the vine. Also: Congrats, OT4E, and thanks for the final reports! It was incredible the way one amphibious attack completely turned this game around. |
