How is the war going for your team? Any big news? I haven't seen much action lately, so I was just curious if you're making any headway against the Incans. I'm not sure how tuned-in they are right now given how infrequently they log in. Anyways, we do appreciate your commitment to playing turns at a reasonable pace during war time, and I hope you have continued success in your campaign.
Thanks,

Very fast reply from WPC - they're having some serious technical difficulties:
WPC Wrote:Hello scooter,
The war is going nicely, but same can't be said about our team. I don't know if you have been reading the threads at CFC, but our entire site went down before the new year. That is a reason why our team has been on a slow burn regarding diplomacy with other teams. If you have anything urgent game related matter, we would like you to contact our turn player, Beta, directly. For some time our nation has not been a team play civ, because we have no effective means to work as one. For now Beta is playing for us "single player".
Do you have Beta's email address for contact?
Anyway, if it is OK with you, I would like to keep the diplomatic status between our nations as they are until we get a forum running, and we can function as a team again. I also humbly as for extending the agreed NAP for now, even after the deadline, because we are in no condition to discuss about big changes to diplomacy without a forum to do so. Co-operation would be greatly appreciated.
If weplayciv.com stays down for a long time, we will organize a substitute forum and then get back to being a real team. At that time we can discuss grander plans again, and also form new agreements with your team. Could you agree with these terms?
If matters can't wait, just inform Beta directly. We have confidence that his decisions will be just and agreeable for most of our team.
Best regards,
Tatu

Quickly, just got this from CFC:
CFC/Caledorn Wrote:Hi Scooter / RB,
Thanks for your feedback on the WPC - German war. It's great for the rest of us that these two have hit a stalemate, and it's in all our best interests that things stay that way. We're glad everyone is remaining neutral to prevent one team from getting a strong advantage in this war.
Regarding the timer, we definitely understand your concern about other teams losing interest, and agree that could ruin this great game. However, if one of the sides in the war is stating that they would not be able to manage a shorter clock, we also think that could have devastating effects on this game if the timer were reduced. We are in the process of holding an official team vote on this issue, and we will let you know the results as soon as we have them.
Do you have any plans with CFC Welcome Wagon? The Spaniards are to our east, and we'd be happy to direct you to them.
Regards,
Caledorn / Team CFC
Reactions and all that from me tomorrow - it's late for me now. Happy to see them offer to direct us to the Spanish team which I was planning on asking them anyways once they responded.

We're totally fine with maintaining the status quo diplomatically - really sorry to hear you're having forum troubles! We had major forums issues ourselves a couple months back with the forums getting completely knocked offline, so that made things quite difficult for us too. Hope you get them sorted out quickly.
Thanks,

On the turn timer issue - our observing of the issue suggests they aren't having any trouble finishing their turns, they just don't hit enter. A few turns ago they logged in, played, logged out, and then proceeded to not login for 36 hours while the turn timer ran out. They do stuff like this pretty frequently, and it makes it really hard for me to be sympathetic towards them. So I would gently ask you guys to consider that - not as a diplomatic thing - but just as a practical thing for keeping the interest in this game. The German team doesn't have any issues actually playing in that window, they just don't end the turn (if they had 5 hours or 5 days to end turn I don't believe they would do it in either case).
WPC is the other side in the war and they're in favor of a reduced timer, so I truly believe this is best for everyone (and so does the entirety of my team). FWIW, this is mainly in the interest of manageable war turns. If it was peace and turns were falling every 48 hours or so at maximum, we could deal with that. However, we've played 10 turns in the last 33 days, which is a pace of 9T/month. If we keep that up, this game will last 3+ years pretty easily, and there's no way I will still be playing this game in 3 years.

We're just trying to defog as much of the map as possible with Welcome Wagon right now since screenshot trading is banned pre-Paper, but directions would be much appreciated. Has diplomatic contact with the Spanish team gotten any better or are they still kind of difficult to communicate with? We have several Spanish speakers on our team, so we're hoping that might help things go smoothly with them.
Thanks,
scooter - Team RB

Thanks for the message. We're definitely on board with reducing the turn timer to 36 hours. We'll let you know by the end of the week whether we want to do this immediately, or after the current war.
The fastest route to the Spaniards is for WW to go 3-3-9-9-9-6-9. This follows our road network, and keeps you on mostly defogged tiles for maximum safety. Our diplo with them has been going well recently, just had to get used to their style.

Thanks for letting me know! We're going to post over at CFC about this shortly, so hopefully we can get a discussion & vote going. We're just ironing out a proposal so that it's clear and hopefully acceptable to everyone.
Thanks!

Got a reply from WPC:
WePlayCiv Wrote:Hello!
The forums seems to be online (for now), so the diplo can be done with this usual method.
We'll discuss within our team about the NAP with your team and will make proposition well before the deadline is over.
Because not all members have come back to the unstable forums, discussion may take some time.
Because of that, feel free to tell your thoughts on the matter even during this discussion period.
Here is Beta's address in case the forum goes down again and you need urgent contact with our team.

They're back in action with their forums. So simple order of business is that it's time to lock down a NAP extension with them. And also say super nice things to them about playing their war turns promptly.

Great! Glad to hear the forums are back up. Hopefully your team can all get back on the same page quickly. If it goes back down again, just shoot me a quick email to let me know if you don't mind - that way I know to contact Beta instead.
Our agreement currently only has about 10T left in it. We would like to extend it, so what do you guys think about an extension until T175? That should be a nice long window of peace for both of us. Let me know what you think - I'm definitely open to different suggestions.
Hope the war is going well - we really appreciate your team's dedication to playing turns quickly. Hopefully with time the German team can be eliminated, and we can keep a better pace.
Thanks,
scooter - Team RB
