Scenario: Hello, there! Glad to meet you! Welcome to the world of FALL FROM HEAVEN! My name is BOBCHILLINGWORTH. People affectionately refer to me as the SCENARIO DESIGNER. This world is inhabited far and wide by creatures called BARBARIANS. For some people, BARBARIANS are pets. Others use them for battling. As for myself I create scenarios with them as a hobby. But first, tell me a little bit about yourself. Now tell me. Are you a boy? Or are you a girl? And what is your name? Actually forget it, no one cares.

Right, with that out of the way here'€™s the scenario description: This game has a scoring mechanism. Your mission, aside from winning the scenario through whatever means necessary, is to obtain as many different units from the list at the end of this post as possible. Each different unit which you obtain from the list earns you a single point; players will be ranked at the conclusion of the Adventure from most to least points. Multiple copies of a unit do not earn you extra points- a single tiger will earn you as many points as twelve (one point). Units *must be alive and under player control upon winning the game* to count for scoring purposes. Although not required, it is encouraged for players to take a picture of their military advisor screen to assist in confirming their final owned unit tallies upon the turn of their victory. Units which have been merged into a city no longer count for scoring- if you have only one gorilla, it'€™s up to you whether it'€™s worth keeping it around for the point or sticking it in a cage. Units do not have to actually be '€œcaptured'€ to count for scoring; those simply built by the player count just as well, provided that they are around on the final turn of the game. Temporary summons count for scoring as well, as long as they have not disappeared on the final turn (the turn before you hit '€œend turn'€ and win or lose).

The game also has a special additional rule- players may not make peace with the Rival (who you start at war with). If for whatever reason you end up at peace with him anyway, you must redeclare as soon as the option is available. Reloading in the case of accidentally proposing peace is acceptable.

As the main intent for the game is for players to have fun and not drive themselves stark raving mad with maximizing scoring, there are additionally three STARS (Stellar Typography Actually Related to Scoring) disassociated from collecting units which players can earn:

* The Bronze Star of Bulbasaur is for winning by Conquest.

* The Silver Star of Squirtle is for using only units from the scoring list to take cities (indirect collateral damage from other sources is still acceptable).

* The Chrome Star of Charmander is for never using more than six units plus the starting Adventurer (who can be upgraded) for any offensive action outside your borders. The role of Chrome will be played today by "SlateGray".

Players who have earned STARS will still be ranked by order of score, but will have their STARS appear by their name.

Concerning the scenario difficulty level- the AI has received boosts which, while not nearly as severe as those in FFH Adventure 3, will make it play more like an Immortal AI than Emperor in practice.

As a final note before the units scoring list, be aware that as with Adventures 2 & 3, this scenario has been entirely hand-crafted, and has several significant differences from the average randomly-generated map. There is no guarantee that players will be able to obtain _every_ unit from the list below, and therefore you are discouraged from falling into a state of existential despair attempting to do so. Please keep in mind that as the Kuriotates, you can only build units in three cities, so chose carefully which you wish to keep as Cities rather than Settlements when exploiting your Tolerant trait. As always, all comers are welcome to try a hand and report the result, whatever it may be. Enjoy!

Noting the heavy weighting towards recon units, may I ask how you came up with the list of units we are encouraged to acquire?

Also, I assume that the chrome star will be established based on reports of assaults?
Reply

Sure. Each went through a rigorous & exacting procedure by which I looked at them and asked myself "would this be a good pokemon?"

Concerning the chrome star, I'll willing to take player's words for it (too much documentation = not fun), but if you're going to go for that star and write a report it would be nice if you had a picture of your assault team whenever you take an AI city, yes.

Yeah, team reports would be appropriate. Say... if part of my team is summoners, do their summons count as extra monsters? That'd be understandable but annoying. (Similarly, I assume that, if you capture an enemy while attacking, sending it home immediately doesn't count against your team.)

BTW, since I forgot to say so before, this concept is awesome.

This looks like fun! Thanks, Bob! And I'll start my report as I play this time, so that I might actually have a fairly complete one on reporting day.

A question on the chrome star. Adventurer + 6 units - is that at once, or total for the game? Am I allowed to rearrange my lineup from attack to attack? Suppose I have the adventurer and 6 Tigers in my first battle - if I lose a Tiger, can I replace it? If I decide I'd rather bring a Hunter, can I switch out a Tiger for him?

Also, what constitutes offensive action? Animal hunting, or just attacks on other civs? Attacks on barbarians (or barb cities?)?

Good question, that's a situation which I hadn't anticipated (somehow). Using summoners as part of your team of six is fine, but as very few of the units on the list are summoners you will almost certainly be forfeiting the Silver Star that way.

Capturing enemies while attacking is fine, just escort them back home as soon as you can. Players also are not responsible for the actions of Ravenous Werewolves, or other AI-controlled units (like ones "possessed" by exploring a lair). Please don't exploit this by mass-producing Lunatics :P

The Adventurer + 6 units is a limit for at a time, so you can have a changing team as long as it doesn't exceed the size constraint. Replacing dead units is fine as well. You can also of course use fewer than 6 units smile

Concerning "offensive action", that includes attacks on animals to capture them, and taking on barbs. The Chrome Star isn't supposed to be particularly easy to obtain, so don't feel compelled to try for it if it makes the scenario less fun =)

So could you use a summon as part of the team?
Reply

If it's a temporary summon, it won't count toward the 6-member team limit. So if you really want a team of the Adventurer + 6 spectre-summoning mages, that's acceptable. If you want the Silver Star though the mages won't be able to attack cities on their own.

Permanent summons do count toward the team limit though. So you could have something like 5 mages and a Flesh Golem.
Reply

I meant more, not include the summoner as part of the team(and thus not attack with them), but include the summon itself.
