OK, I have the save and should be able to play in a few hours.

At the end of my turnset (a while ago now, obviously) the enemy was sending a very sizable fraction of his newly recruited troops against the east (Bruindane). There were troops attacking the other directions, but fewer of them. So if we have been hit hard, it is not really a surprise. I specifically wanted to draw out a lot of enemy troops to the east, to reduce the chances of losing Hamel or the ancient lich since they are required for victory.

Of course, now it looks like we are the ones struggling and AI Hamel is stomping orcs and trolls left and right. lol Looks like a fair number of the level 3 wall guards have been drawn out and dealt with as well. Hopefully we can keep pushing and wrap this up fairly quickly.

Is our main group dead yet?

I don't know what you guys were whining about. Things seemed to go easily enough for me. :neenernee

(Thanks entirely to your hard work in fighting the difficult stages of the battle.)

Turn 10

Our human-led forces smash holes in the orcish lines, and begin rolling up both ends as well. Lots and lots of footpads are swarming the orcs, along with whichever of our veteran units are healthy enough to still fight.

During the orc turns quite a few footpads, dwarves, ogres, and other low level units are lost. frown All of the orc kings, including Rakshas, join the combat.

The lich forces clear all remaining enemies from their quadrant and start advancing on the castle.

The dwarves fight fiercely and kill Rakshas! :2dance: We get some congratulatory messages, but must still finish the other orc leaders. The dwarves start immediately by killing the brown and black kings this turn as well.

The elves push into the castle, although there are still pockets of resistance. A few elves begin attacking the green king.

Turn 11

Our eastern forces crush all but a handful of orcs in their quadrant and advance on the castle. There are still a few wall guards in this sector.

The orcs score some more low-level kills, and also get a few elves who were exposed as they went after the green king.

The northern forces push a strong wedge into the castle, while dwarves advance and claim lots of villages.

The elves kill the green king, with Princess Eryssa striking the final blows. hammer

Turn 12

We clear the rest of the east and the first human units (some quick footpads) enter the castle.

The handful of remaining orcs fight desperately, but only kill one elf. The purple king actually moves closer to the lich forces when he attacks an elven rider. smoke

I take advantage of this foolish move by swarming the last orc king. I intentionally send in heavily wounded units first, getting in one or two blows each before being killed and clearing the space for a fresh attacker. The tactic works, and the purple king is beaten to a pulp by our trolls' clubs!

Victory is ours! :2dance: band :2dance: :cake:

Lots and lots of speeches, etc. I have attached the save before the epilogue, so you can watch it all if you like.

Great work, everyone! jive You two did the really hard turns, so most of what was left was mopping up after one more big push broke the enemy lines.

Yes, we won. You seem so surprised. lol

As I noted, the two of you had the really difficult turns to hold off the main orc forces and wear them down. They were all in negative gold, and all but one with negative income, when this last turnset started. We still had plenty of gold for Bruindane and the lich, and plenty of troops for the elves and dwarves. So it was just a matter of time.

The orc leaders helped by moving to join the fighting. After eliminating 50+ level 3 wall guards, a few more level 3 orcs really weren't a challenge. smile

Well congrats guys! I'm very happy we were able to complete it all. You may have noticed me lagging on getting my turns played a few times, so really its for the best we made it to the end when we did. I'm still involved in 3 PBEMS, WW and of course my RL so I'm actually kind of glad its over now. It was a lot of fun but thats one less thing I have to worry about. lol

Thanks F&I for putting it together and thanks for stepping in for Bruindane when you did Hap.

Thanks, Lewwyn!

It has been a lot of fun, and for me it was a great way to get into a new game. I have a personal campaign going, too. smile

Anyone know what happened to Bruindane? Hopefully just very busy, and nothing worse. Too bad he could not be with us for the final battle and victory.

This was great fun and I am glad you found a new fun game.

If there is any intrest we could alway start a different campaign.
