[SPOILERS] Team EggHeads: DMOC and TeddyKGB (Now Lurker-Friendly!)

Yes, we talked about India a bit. As I remember I didn't say any specific beside we are worry about Yuufo's progress.
I'll check some logs. But there is not much chatting with Arki and I did post 1st one here, as I remember.
He knows we OB with India, but thats not news around North teams.

Have no idea whats that last msg means, Suttree was unhappy for some move of Arki and ask for reload.
I did chat with Suttree at the time, but obv he didn't tell me what the problem was.
I'll try to check latest logs with him as well.

As I remember, I was telling every team in the chat that any official deal should go through e-mail.

I'm assuming Suttree and Arki has a long chat ingame this turn:

Also, wondering if we are at war with Rome now...
Reply

T89.

Rome defend Antium with another chariot, so we are not at war.
I moved our chariot away a bit.

SutOxy DoW on Orgy. Nothing new I could tell about it.

Asterix connected second calendar resource: Incense.
Also, he is spending EP on us right now, so we can't see his research.

UT Austin founded.
Aqueduct whipped in UC. Next turn we'll put enough overflow+chops to complete HG on T91.
UWash whipped LH with some overflow into Moai. We'll use overflow from Barracks into it later also.

I did some shuffle of citizens, so this turn we don't work 2sci.
I'm not sure it's the right play, so you could change it if you like. I will pause the game for team Pony, as I understand they need one.

Delay some military units one turn from complition. Our units cost is 9+0gpt atm.

Great news about Berkeley, and hopefully this might give us another "jump start" to this game.

Just one more thing ... why are you building a settler in Carnegie Mellon? I would have thought that a worker would be more useful, given how much land we need to improve (and we'll be getting more population in the next few turns). Otherwise, nothing too pressing, good turn. smile

Just by looking at UWashington, is there any chance that with mines plus a forest chop, we can finish Moai by turns 100 to 102, so we can give stone to Asterix in exchange for some much-needed happiness?

Edit: Since it's close to turn 100, that reminds me ... what do we want to do about NAPs and stuff with Care Bears? And deals with Orgynized?

Edit 2: When do you think we can finish up Currency?
Reply

Settler in CM is long from done, as the worker. Once we switch to 100% and give away pigs again.
And hammers is too low for EXP bonus here. I could switch to worker, but we'll need some cities after currency as well.
Currently building worker in Stan.

UWash has some workers around, who will finish HG, I hope.
I'm not sure about timing on Moai, wanted to build it in UC as well for failed gold and more 100% turns.
Lets get HG first (or dont) and I could say about exact turn for Moai.

Did Asterix ask for gpt instead of Stone in last msg?
Reply

IIRC he wanted gold over stone, but we badly need any gold we can get, so I do not want to give him any.

I'd see if we can get THG and then tell him when we can give him stone. That'll be in about two turns. I sent him a quick PM explaining that we'll get back to him within the next few turns:

Quote:Asterix,

We're planning on figuring out something to give to you for a happiness resource soon (e.g., our stone for your incense). Right now, we're going to try and figure out the builds and worker movements in our empire to get Moai quickly (but not so quickly that it comes at huge cost to us). This should be clear in a few turns, so once we know that, we can make a definitive offer. Right now, I''m pretty sure we can get Moai done in at most 15 turns, likely sooner, but check your email later for an official offer.

Sincerely,
DMOC

From Blame Caledorn:

Quote:Greetings

Thank you, Eggheads, for the screenshot of Antium. smile Yossarian has taken the time to make a composite image of the lands we know the Romans have that we are including in this joint email.

We currently have 3 quechuas strategically located around the Roman lands as scouts. Our plan is to replace two of these with Axes, and the third one we'd like to hear your thoughts about we should do with since he's landlocked between Roman and Dinosaur land. Dinos: We can move him the way you feel is best, or and send screenshots to you both, or we could even sell him to you if you're interested.

Also, Asterix approached us with an idea that we attempt to bribe Rome into starting a fight with India instead of any of us. It turns out GG has actually responded to correspondence from Team M&M. We would obviously need to rely on Asterix to do the talking if we are interested in that arrangement as Team M&M is the only one we know of that GG has actually responded to, which is a bit of a weak link to this suggestion. It could be nice to keep India occupied with some nasty praetorians to keep their score more even with the rest of us, and we could also make the suggestion that "Either you fight India, or you fight all three of us instead" (Which for some reason reminded me of the old "We have nuclear weapons to back up our words!" AI diplomacy in the previous Civ games). What do you guys think? We're not really sure what to make of it, but thought it was an idea that we should discuss together.

Blameteer Caledorn, on behalf of the Blame Caledornian nation

Seriously, we want Rome to attack India. We're going to have to talk to Asterix about this, but he might want some compensation...

I quickly sent this response back to Inca and English

Quote:Hey guys,

I take it that at this point, the three teams among us all agree to a defensive pact against Rome, effective until turn 130? (I'm just throwing that out as a ballpark date; feel free to revise.) If we could all confirm to this, that would be great.

At some point, we should let Rome know this to act as a deterrent. Since they don't seem to check the forums, let's send them a message in-game by clicking on their name and writing something in the text box (this would also keep our defensive pact a secret from India). I propose that on turn 95, we all write this message to them:

"The Teams of Byzantium, Inca, and English are forming a three-way defensive pact. Thus, a declaration of war towards one of our teams is equivalent to declaring war on all three of us."

Let me know what you think. We don't have that much time left, now that Rome is sure to start building their military. We're getting walls and axes up to our border area as we speak.

To recap:

1. Defensive Pact until turn 130
2. Should Rome declare war on one of us, all three teams should make their best effort to weaken Rome and to assist allies in need.
3. Send a message to Rome ingame on turn 95.
4. (Highly, highly recommended.) One of us contacts Asterix to tell Rome to target India. And yes, The Pyramids city is close to their border.

Sincerely,

DMOC

Representing Team Eggheads

EDIT
-----

The turn flipped over to turn 90, and no one had a huge score increase yet, so the Hanging Gardens might still be safe. I know it's not the best wonder for us but we do have 9 cities right now and it makes India a bit more wary about us.

If we do get THG, what cities should get whipped? I'm assuming that we badly need Illinois to stay at size 2 so we should avoid whipping it (work silver and crabs) but UT Austin could whip granary to quickly start on a library next. And we do need more axemen by our border. Finally, if we have surplus population in cities with libraries, we should work some scientists ... how quickly can we get Currency?

EDIT 2
--------

We receive positive responses from Dinosaurs (English) and B.Cal (Inca):

Quote:We accept these rules:

We don't have contact with Asterix.

Quote:Hey everyone

Team Blame Caledorn also accepts these rules:

1. Defensive Pact (against Rome) until T130.
2. Should Rome declare war on one of us, all three teams should make their best effort to weaken Rome and to assist allies in need.
3. Send an ingame message to Rome on T95.
4. Team Blame Caledorn takes responsibility for asking Asterix to tell Rome to target India, and also confirm to Asterix that the Pyramids are close to the Roman border as an added incentive for the Romans to target the Indians.

Dinos: We would appreciate you showing us the way to the Indian border, so just assign a unit that we should follow (or give us a path you wish us to follow from his current position, using numeral moves - for instance 9-9-8 equals NE-NE-N). We assume your units will keep a close eye on the area where our quechua near your border is currently located, so our scout there is superfluous for the time being. For the record, we would like to defog a last tile on the coast there before we're ready to move, and we would also need open borders with you if we are to travel through your lands of course.

My ISP has problems. I'm not sure they will fix it till the turn rolls.
Could you play T90 if necessary?

tHG is set for 1t build. 94h overflow + workers finishing 2*chops = 154h into HG + 100% from stone.
I was planning start Moai after HG for failed gold. Not sure we want run for GLH in any city.
Workers near UC, whos free now should probably go toward UWash and UT. We'll need start improve grass cow at UT once borders pop.
2 workers between MIT and Stan could finish cottage 3tiles away on the road to the east. Then go improve eastern cities with riverside cottages.
Worker who just chop into walls could do deer/road/chop/mine(UIllinois)/cottage(Princeton)

As for currency, I think we should try 4turn it with 100%. So we need ~260 gold in treasure for full 4 turns of 100%. 225 atm and next turn if we land HG we back on silver for big commerce boost.

Yuufo confirmed he is waiting for OR to double revolt, but didn't say when. Maybe we could risk it and go for Mono, but risk too big compared to reward, as I see it.
Lets take Currency and boost research a bit, imo.

Also, there is an interesting exchange between SutOxy and Orgy, as you can see on civstats.
I assume SutOxy gift them that settler or part of it for raising Orgy's city. Not one of them told me nothing about what happening.

And last thing, there is a msg from SutOxy about India and OB. What you think we should answer him?
Reply

1. Okay, I can play turn 90 in about 2 hours. I'll report on worker actions.

2. Currency: I agree, 4 turn it.

3. I don't think we need GLH … with full diplomacy, teams actually get hesitant about opening borders with the civ that has GLH.

4. Also, I have no idea what's happening between SutOxy and Orgy … it seems like both of their scores decreased? I thought if one team takes it and razes it, their score would increase first, then decrease.

5. We should answer SutOxy within 24 hours.

Just got inet fixed. Could play now if needed.
But it's t90, so maybe you could play it and post a nice report?

Turn 90 - 625 BC

Unfortunately, Team Orgynized settled their sixth city this turn on the grass hill (I moved our scout on the forest and then back into our borders). I'm not too happy about this, since they'll get the sheep in 10 turns, but there's not too much we can do about that since we're suffering crippling maintenance costs. Hopefully their conflict with SutOxy will mean they're more worried about their western neighbor. (Care Bears unfortunately settled their thirteenth city this turn.) Our tenth city, by the way, will be named Georgia Tech.

Note: Orgynized got their prophet this turn. So I believe only the three of us (Care Bears, them, us) have gotten Great People. [Edit: A Great Scientist was also born ... probably to Blame Caledorn.]

Worker actions (all are canceled so you can reassign them next turn if needed):

-Worker A who was free at Berkeley, I actually moved south 1 tile and pre-roaded. My reason is that looking at the map, there didn't seem to be an easy way for him to go to UWash/Austin area without him wasting a turn, and if we have him road again next turn (completing the road) then Worker F (who is on that tile) can then travel 4 full tiles and land on a hill at UWash. Alternatively, we can mine the hill north of MIT's cows, since we'll want a road connection through that region eventually.

-Workers B and G worked on cottaging near Carnegie Mellon (see picture)

-Worker C and Worker D continued farming at Princeton.

-Worker F and Worker ?? (on forest) chopped into Berkeley.

-Worker E chopped in UT Austin, he was on a forest already so it made sense

-Worker H cottaged tile south of Princeton. Debated a bit and decided that we need cottages more than ever now to recover.

-Worker ??? (near Washington), I didn't see the benefit of a cottage here in our future Moai city so I put him on another grass hill nearby so he can start mining (or roading) next turn. Once this worker, and worker

-Worker ??? (on Washington hill) did a mine, 1 turn out of 4, since we'll need it as Washington grows. (Or UT Austin can use it.)

Some random screenshots.

And yes, we should get The Hanging Gardens next turn ... wink

Since all but the capital have at least 1 happiness cap, then this won't cause any more cities to become unhappy. But given how much we want our cities to grow (Especially those that are size 4 now and UWashington too) then we really should agree on something with Asterix for his incense. Also, the capital should really get back to working those scientists...not sure when, but soon.
