Well I brought G&K and I have a few things to say.
1. The 100hp system makes a big difference. Units can acutally take a hit while going to a city to take it. This makes the AI much more dangerous. I think luddite was right when people where being to harsh on the AI for not being able to take cities.
2. They nuked GS and research aggrements into the ground. 1 city will be a huge handycap because of this.
3. Because the AI cheats on happyness it gets much less using the new faith system. I think this would make EMP easly beatable. I have not even touch the spy system yet.
For this reason I think people who really did not like Civ5 will still not like it after G&K. EMP is already beyond Diety with the level 2 difficulty bug. Inmortal and Diety are still very silly.
4. Neuschwanstein from Gabriel Knight is a wonder in this game.
For those who don't know Gabriel Knight is a chessy all live-action werewolf-themed adventure game that actually beat Riven in some online poll.
Never mind the fact that only happend because eveyone who would have voted Riven voted myst instead. This is also how beauty and the beast sneaked in a best picture nomination.
Anyway I think this a good exp pack. It cannot overcome some issues but it is a major inprovement.
Edit: I really like T-hawks civ5 reports. That ICS one was pretty good. The little extra happy you get on large maps would have not made a big difference. I also learned that 1 food becomes 0.25 hammers when building settlers.
